"Hongjun told me that when Father God created heaven and earth, he was said to have slain three thousand Chaos Fiends. But in truth, not one of them died. They may have lost most of their essence and had their bodies destroyed, leaving only a spark of life, but they are still alive, hidden deep in Primordial Chaos. The strongest among them—the ones closest to Father God—suffered the least. Some have even recovered most of their power."
"What?!"
The Ancestor Witches were stunned.
"The Chaos Fiends are still alive?!"
"That's right."
Dijiang nodded. "According to Hongjun, the surviving Chaos Fiends hate the Primordial World Father God created. They've been gathering strength in secret, waiting for the day this world weakens. Then they'll return and destroy it!"
"And Hongjun's merging with the Heavenly Dao wasn't just to complete the Heavenly Dao Laws. His main purpose was to hold off an invasion by the Chaos Fiends."
When Dijiang finished, deathly silence fell over the hall.
If the Chaos Fiends truly returned, could the Primordial World withstand them?
"Big Brother, can we trust what Hongjun said?" Houtu asked worriedly.
"Some of it," Dijiang said slowly. "I believe some Chaos Fiends survived. But it was probably only the strongest, kept alive by the peculiar nature of their Daos. That every last one survived while Father God alone perished? I find that hard to believe. Or perhaps Father God never died, but broke through and went to a higher world. There's no way to verify any of that. One thing I can say for certain, though: Hongjun's claim that he merged with the Heavenly Dao to repel an invasion is probably just him trying to make himself look good."
"His real goal is likely to control the Primordial World and become its absolute ruler."
Dijiang
