Background

Jiang Di was an ordinary antique enthusiast before purchasing a dirt-covered Little Jade Disc. After his blood touched the disc during an accident, he transmigrated to the newly created Primordial World and awakened as Dijiang, the first-born and eldest of the Twelve Ancestral Witches. His true body was initially a massive mass of Pangu essence blood within the central blood cocoon of Pangu Hall. 1

Aware of the Witch Clan’s destined destruction, Dijiang identified its central weakness: World-Opening Turbid Qi and Earthly Killing Intent could temper an Ancestral Witch’s body, but would contaminate the soul and prevent the formation of a Primordial Spirit. The Jade Disc changed this fate by transforming the hostile energies in Pangu Hall into pure innate spiritual qi. 1

To cultivate without interrupting the purification process, Dijiang painfully split off part of his core consciousness and placed it in the Jade Disc. This fragment functioned as a rudimentary artifact spirit, continuously operating the treasure while Dijiang concentrated on cultivation. His success allowed both himself and his eleven younger siblings to form Primordial Spirits. 2

After transforming, Dijiang led the Twelve Ancestral Witches beyond Pangu Hall, imposed group-travel rules for their safety, and began securing resources throughout the Primordial World. His early expeditions brought the group into conflict with the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans, while also revealing the cost of challenging enemies beyond their realm. 3 8 9

Dijiang initially opposed creating a large bloodline-based Witch Clan, fearing that it would repeat the three ancient clans’ ruinous struggle for supremacy. He instead sheltered beings of many races at Mount Buzhou. Later, he established the Witch Cult around cultivation of the Law Grand Dao and created a limited number of Great Witches to staff the Heavenly Court. 13 55 62 63

Appearance

Dijiang usually appears as a tall, slender young man in an Innate Dao Body. His appearance reflects the Ancestral Witches’ Pangu lineage and his affinity for the Space Law. 2

He is pragmatic rather than needlessly violent. He harvests useful materials from enemies and disasters, but also favors mutually beneficial negotiations when force is unnecessary, as shown by his agreements with the Phoenix, Dragon, and Qilin Clans. 6 27 29 30

Despite his pragmatism, Dijiang accepts responsibility for weaker beings. He turns Mount Buzhou into a sanctuary, creates a universal cultivation method for its inhabitants, and establishes institutions to preserve order and transmit knowledge. 14 16 36

As a teacher, he is demanding and selective. He refuses to transmit the Dharma lightly, tests Six-Eared Macaque’s sincerity over thousands of years, and allows his disciple to endure the hardships of his chosen cultivation path rather than shielding him from every danger. 40 41 42

When Nuwa seeks the Gourd Vine, Nine Heavens Resting Soil, and Three Lights Divine Water to create humanity, Dijiang provides them despite her connection to the Demon Clan through Fuxi. Dijiang guides Six-Eared Macaque through a bloodline-related cultivation obstacle and accepts a humbled Kong Xuan as his second direct disciple. He also secures Dipamkara’s Qiankun Ruler through an exchange and gives it to Gonggong to complement the thirty-six Sea-Calming Divine Pearls. Battle Against the Sages

Dijiang saves Zhu Rong from Yuanshi’s Heaven-enhanced attack, reveals his concealed breakthrough, and publicly accuses Hongjun of using Heaven’s Way Power to favor Yuanshi. Facing the Three Pure Ones and the Western Sages, he uses the Pangu Banner, Taiji Diagram, God-Slaying Spear, World-Destroying Black Lotus, and Sword Formation of Immortal Execution. His Space, Exchange maneuver turns Yuanshi’s strike against Laozi, whom Dijiang then grievously wounds and physically destroys.
