Background / History

Thirty years before the present story, Qian Daoliu encountered Wu Changming, the Frost Sword Douluo. Changming defeated Qian and Spirit Hall's other leading experts, but Qian nevertheless aided his search for a divine inheritance by proposing a contest among Limit Douluo. The battle attracted the Shura God's attention and led to Changming receiving the Shura God Test. 23 24 25

Qian later invited Changming to Spirit Hall and made him the first outsider permitted into the Angel Temple. There, he revealed the Angel Clan's divine heritage and his hope that a descendant would inherit the Angel God's position. Changming's vision of the future confirmed that Qian's descendant would indeed become a god and would marry Wu Qingkong. 26 27

Although Qian wanted closer ties between their families, the marriage agreement between Qian Renxue and Wu Qingkong was ultimately proposed by Changming. Qian regarded the promise as a debt of loyalty to “Brother Frost Sword” and preserved it even after Changming's death. 15 23 29

When Renxue returned to Spirit Hall intending to dissolve the engagement, Qian refused her request despite indulging nearly every other wish she made. He tried to delay the marriage rather than force it immediately, giving her an ice-blue sword pendant that would react to Frost Sword's descendant. 15 16

Wu Qingkong's arrival at Spirit Hall created a crisis: Qian expected a proposal, while Qingkong had come to cancel the engagement. Qian convened the seven offerings, entertained Qingkong respectfully, and briefly approved a plan to adopt Hu Liena as a substitute granddaughter if Renxue remained unwilling. 17 19 20

After learning that Qingkong truly wished to end the arrangement, Qian was devastated. However, he rejected Hu Liena's request for a new engagement, explaining that love and happiness could not be secured by a contract if Qingkong himself did not consent. He later placed his hopes in fate rather than the broken agreement. 23 30

When Renxue's Life Tablet shattered following her apparent death, Qian's grief overcame his usual composure. Believing the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect responsible, he departed for Heaven Dou with all six other offerings to seek vengeance. 94 95

He ultimately found Renxue alive and openly affectionate with Qingkong. Once Guang Ling and the protectors explained their history, Qian welcomed the relationship with satisfaction, seeing the former engagement transformed into genuine mutual love. 99 100

Appearance

Qian Daoliu is an elderly man with a beard and the imposing presence expected of Spirit Hall's Grand Offering. When acting, he manifests magnificent golden wings and travels as a golden meteor. 95 100

Personality

Qian is deeply loyal to old bonds. He treats Changming's marriage proposal as a solemn promise rather than a political convenience, refusing to dismiss it even when Renxue and the other offerings urge him to do so. 15 18

He is indulgent and affectionate toward Renxue, readily seeing through her attempts to charm him while still treating her as the light of his later years. His resolve weakens only when her happiness or safety is at stake. 15 95

Despite his initial rigidity over the engagement, Qian can reassess his position. His advice to Hu Liena—that love cannot be forced through formal arrangements—shows that he ultimately values willing affection over empty obligation. 23
