Nature

The Heavenly Dao was widely treated as an impersonal will of heaven and earth, but it is ultimately revealed to be a living entity that normally sleeps and awakens once every thirty thousand years. During its dormancy, its consciousness avatars operate the world’s systems according to fixed procedures rather than genuine judgment. 314 354

Traits, Heavenly Dao Trait Sets, secret realms, edicts, rankings, and related systems originated from the Heavenly Dao’s unconscious power leaking into the world. It possessed every Trait, including Black and Gray Traits, as well as the ability to create Heavenly Dao supreme treasures. 318 345 356

• Main body — A Black Trait cloak concealed beneath Great Xia Kingdom; it was discovered beneath divine-sense-blocking stones after Chen Qiu lifted the kingdom. 355

Powers and Limitations

Trait Authority

The Heavenly Dao could create, distribute, remove, and preserve Traits. It stripped Qidan’s Rainbow Trait after he refused to serve it, leaving his Qi Refinement body unable to withstand the spiritual pressure of the Twelfth-Rank Immortal Realm. 322

Cyclical Devouring

Every thirty thousand years, the Heavenly Dao’s awakening heralded a calamity intended to harvest cultivation resources on a massive scale. 314

• Before fully awakening, it sent hundreds of millions of powerful demon beasts to slaughter the Twelfth-Rank Immortal Realm. 314
• After the realm was emptied of life, it would awaken fully and devour the entire continent, including its dead. 314

Structural Flaws

The Heavenly Dao’s system was not perfectly synchronized with its recovering power. Gray and Black Traits emerged after the original rules had been established, creating discrepancies that Chen Qiu considered exploitable “bugs.” 354

• Its edicts acted as rigid warning and reward mechanisms rather than adaptable proof of intelligence. 354
• Some curses and abnormalities were system errors accumulated across long sleep cycles, though others were deliberate punishments. 357

History

The ancient Mocking Heaven Sect opposed the Heavenly Dao during a previous cycle. Jiang Buping recalled that, after choosing survival and becoming a Heavenly Dao servant, he helped destroy the sect; its history and memory were later erased from heaven and earth. 294 322

Despite the sect’s destruction, remnants of its plans endured in the Land of Heavenly Imprisonment. Chen Qiu later inferred that the sect had deliberately confined itself to escape Heavenly Dao control, seeking to place itself in death’s ground and be reborn beyond the system’s authority. 294

For roughly a thousand years, the Heavenly Dao’s main body remained unknowingly suppressed beneath Great Xia Kingdom by a grand formation Chen Qiu had established in an earlier era. The formation’s inability to cross the divine-sense-blocking stones beneath the body caused the official road between Windward City and Heaven-Question Market to detour. 355

Chen Qiu eventually located the main body beneath Great Xia, then recognized that the oval meditation stone he had carried for centuries contained its soul. He split the stone open, trapped the fleeing soul, and destroyed it alongside the black-robed main body. 355 356

Aftermath

The Heavenly Dao’s death caused its shackles, consciousness avatars, edicts, rankings, and secret realms to disappear. The divided continents merged into a single world, later named Qiu Emperor Continent, with Great Xia Kingdom positioned at its center. 356

Chen Qiu absorbed the entity’s power and became capable of acting as a new Heavenly Dao. He appointed July Cat to administer restored edicts, rankings, and secret realms, while the Artifact Spirit Clan was tasked with rebuilding destroyed secret realms. 356
