Even the most oblivious Undead could see the disbelief on the red-furred King Kong's face. "There are actually Elves willing to associate with Lathander?

"Are you sure you're Corellon's descendants?

"But I can feel his divine power flowing through you!

"Did the Father of Elves get himself fooled? No, surely not. Even Rose couldn't manage that. Could that... hmph... really have pulled it off?"

Beside Hill, Lathander let out an angry cry. Pale golden flames blazed across his beautiful feathers.

He had never believed Elves would naturally hate him. Granted, their last empire had fallen because of him, but his friends had made that decision with him. They had understood what failure would mean.

The more precious the prize, the higher the price.

They simply hadn't expected their goal to cross the world's limits, wiping them all out.

The Lord of Dawn had never regretted that decision. Neither had the friends and followers in his Divine Kingdom.

After all, they had already seen the decline of the Elves and the rise of humanity in the River of Fate.

Why else would several great Elven Empires have risked everything with him? Every method they tried showed the same future, one the Elves, proud for hundreds of thousands of years, could not accept.

The Elves had joined forces with Lathander for a reason, and it certainly wasn't to help him establish the Sun God Pantheon. If they could remain Toril's rulers, they had no wish to give up their long, luxurious lives.

They knew that doing nothing might lead to an even worse end. At least if they helped Lathander and failed, the Lord of Dawn had promised them a place in his Divine Kingdom.

And if they succeeded in reviving the Goddess of Fate, the rewards would far exceed anything Lathander
