She chuckled softly. "What are you worried about? If that sun... if Amaunator really dared to devour it, that would be truly interesting."

Lathander froze for a moment, then suddenly sighed. "Ah, but that sort of interesting only exists in your eyes."

Shar could not help snorting.

Although she no longer regarded returning Toril to darkness and silence as the sole pursuit of her life as she had in the past, it was still her greatest pursuit.

That was why Shar was so permissive about those Gods of Toril meddling in control over the Undead. Not only was she willing to cooperate with them in certain matters, she even allowed Undead bearing their emblems to enter her territory!

Only then would William not be tricked into having to handle Toril's affairs by that meddlesome Corellon!

Thus, even though Ao had always shown great interest in William, Shar remained unmoved and firmly kept William outside the Toril Universe.

Because Shar herself did not know whether, if an opportunity suddenly arose to return Toril to extinction, she would turn against William in order to fulfill the pursuit of her life.

Though Shar was not particularly skilled at romance, she actually understood human nature very well.

The difference between Gods and mortals lay only in their differing bottom lines, not in being completely untouched by emotion.

Therefore, she knew very well that the best way to preserve a relationship was not to test people's hearts.

She could not even guarantee her own heart, so how could she force William to abandon his principles and divine office?

Fortunately, William was a God who only liked managing Telashir's own affairs and had absolutely no interest in dispensing justice in other worlds.
