Hill watched Lynn leave, then carried several thick books to the open-air garden with a light step. His enthusiasm for the interrupted experiment was gone anyway. He might as well read.
The breeze was gentle, the clouds drifted by, and he felt wonderful... Lynn would certainly find a chance to get even someday, but Hill had no regrets.
A steadfast friendship needed a little friendly give-and-take to keep it going~
Hill eventually found a good spot in the garden. Lily was hanging there, stretching out in the sun. To let every leaf catch the light, she had wound her long vines, hung with gold and silver bells, around the branches until they formed a small, delicate canopy.
Warm sunlight fell on the bench and round table beneath Lily. Well pleased, Hill settled into a comfortable position with a book and began to read.
The Undead on the giant screen and the Fairies in the garden were all having a wonderful time... The Undead were circling a bonfire, while the Fairies danced around a great tree.
The Fairies usually sounded as though they were fighting when they talked, but their singing was lovely, like skylarks in song. Even as they danced through the air to a strange beat, their melodies remained sweet and lilting.
A few hours later, Martha brought a message from Lynn: "Hill, I'll remember this... Just you wait!"
Telly's wails and Tasting's roars also came from somewhere in the distance. It seemed their ill-timed curiosity had led them to follow Lynn into the Alchemy Hall.
But that had nothing to do with Hill... They had gone to watch the spectacle of their own accord. A good show always came at a price!
On hearing this delightful... no, unfortunate news, Hill could only spare his friends a little sympathy.
