The bugs were coated in a strange slime that made them impervious to ranged weapons. They wreaked havoc on the unsuspecting Undead, who couldn't even establish a stable position with the defensive Knight formations they usually took such pride in.

Undead scattered in droves, screaming, "Aaaah! Where are the Mages? Do something!"

"They can eat straight through stone! Transmutation's useless!"

"Fuck! Don't we have any stone harder than blue oak rock?"

"What do you think I am, Hill Bear?"

Hill's mouth twitched when he heard that. He raised his hands and gave the Purple Worms a gentle round of applause, hoping they would keep it up and teach those little brats a proper lesson.

The Purple Worms' defenses were top-tier in some respects. They were immune to immobilization and charm spells, and as long as their slime remained, other spells were at least half as effective.

Hill studied the fearless Purple Bug Leader. Judging by how she resisted spells and weapons, her toughness and endurance were both above level forty. Even her strength had to be at least level thirty-five.

She wouldn't be easy to deal with. A lightning bolt had even refracted back and killed several Undead who hadn't seen it coming. Judging by the cries of the people who had cast it—cries even more miserable than those of the victims—William apparently hadn't anticipated that either. They had been marked as Red Names.

But that sent the Undead, who had been holding back until now, into a frenzy. Spells of every color flashed and ricocheted through the cavern. Hill could even hear people shouting, "There's a bug! Record it!"

"Don't use area spells yet! Let it bounce back! Who cares if we die? This is a design screwup!"

"Let's see how that dumbass William compensates us this time!"
