Hill did not know what had happened, but he was certain Corellon had agreed to it, and the Toril Gods had no objections.

So that world probably still had secrets buried beneath the surface... and William was trying to dig them up.

As for why the Toril Gods did not do the digging themselves, Hill found that perfectly understandable. Their relationships were too tangled to explain in words. How could they let another god investigate?

Those stories would make even the gods blush... So many Priests and Holy Knights had gone there, yet no news had reached Toril. That could only mean the gods involved had all agreed to cover it up.

They should count themselves lucky that Selûne and Shar did not care about other universes... If the Moon Maiden's Priests had gone to Faerunriel too, all of Toril would probably be drowning in gossip by now.

On the day before the Autumn Equinox Hunt, the Undead finally finished their competition. Ten thousand triumphant winners returned with a swagger, along with even more losers who looked indignant and insisted they had merely had bad luck.

Hill had always felt that the shrinking danger zone was why everyone enjoyed the game so much. It gave plenty of people a convenient excuse for their poor play... Luck was the perfect scapegoat. In truth, though, the danger zone only sped up the fighting. It did nothing to improve anyone's combat instincts.

Unless someone was spectacularly unlucky—landing in the danger zone, finally escaping it, then running into a team of experts—it was not that easy to die the moment they entered.

Seeing all those indignant Undead, Hill knew William had found the perfect pastime for them. As long as this instance remained open, more people would come to try their luck.
