They Used to Be Human, Right?

Hill was puzzled. Wyllen was battered by tornadoes year-round, and for humans, it was a place they could reach only by ship.

Even if the Amn Navy took Wyllen, it would struggle to survive the combined attacks of tornadoes and Elves.

Selûne seemed to sense Hill's confusion. "They're probably planning to have the entire nation worship Aglaia. Amn doesn't have a state religion yet."

Hill's eyes widened. If Aglaia accepted the Amn people's devotion, the tornadoes really would stop troubling them.

Even the Elves, if they continued fighting Amn over Wyllen, would have to hold back for Hill's sake. They wouldn't dare use anything too extreme... and the admirals of the Royal Fleet could be ruthless.

But why would Aglaia ever agree? Who would want something so filthy?

Hill frowned. "Aglaia has no need for such tainted faith."

"They probably think Aglaia's indifference to worship is just a show for the Toril Gods because she's a new goddess.

"And Amn is, in some respects, one of the strongest nations Faerûn has seen in recent years. Its population and economy are both among the largest. In their eyes, Waterdeep and Silver Moon City don't even compare.

"So they can't imagine any god of Toril refusing the worship of an entire nation," Selûne said with amusement. "The people of Toril have long since forgotten what it means to be a god by birth.

"Besides, Waukeen used to be Amn's most important deity. Even if every one of her worshippers converted, she wouldn't dare object to Aglaia... after all, Waukeen couldn't even beat you."

Selûne's needs were a little different from Shar's. Shar wanted her followers to do things for her, not supply her with faith. Unfortunately, few of them understood that. They always thought enough devotion would win her approval.
