Background

Dai Mubai is a prince of the Star Luo Empire and heir of the White Tiger Duke. Family conflict drove him into exile, leaving him outwardly arrogant but inwardly burdened by suppressed pain, dissatisfaction, and pressure 19.

By the time Tang San, Xiao Wu, and An Chen arrive in Suotuo City, Dai is already an experienced Shrek Academy student. He represents the academy at its entrance examinations, intimidates unsuitable applicants, explains its standards, and guides successful candidates through the later trials 21 22 24.

Dai initially comes across as domineering, impatient, and accustomed to having his way. At the Rose Hotel, he insists that the final room belongs to him and challenges Tang San and Xiao Wu rather than compromise 19 20.

His aggression is tempered by a strong respect for capability. Tang San’s ability to withstand and redirect his attacks changes Dai’s attitude from hostility to recognition, while An Chen’s Black Fog leads him to identify all three newcomers as potential “monsters” suited to Shrek 20 21.

At Shrek, Dai is a capable senior and front-line leader. He organizes travel formations, explains academy rules, fights beside the new students, and relies on An Chen’s directions without hesitation during battle 24 36 38. Rose Hotel conflict

Dai claims the hotel’s final room as his reserved accommodation and challenges Tang San and Xiao Wu when they refuse to yield. Tang San earns his respect through technical skill, but Dai’s Vajra Transformation places Tang San in serious danger until An Chen intervenes with Black Fog 19 20.

Afterward, Dai withdraws without further hostility, predicts that the three youths are headed for Shrek Academy, and promises to meet them there 21.

Shrek Academy entrance examinations

At Shrek’s gate, Dai acts as the academy’s enforcer, driving away an applicant’s father by displaying his three Soul Rings. He escorts Tang San, Xiao Wu, and An Chen through the admissions process and explains Shrek’s demanding standards 21 24.

He becomes visibly affected by Zhu Zhuqing’s arrival, recognizing that her aura may be compatible with his White Tiger Wuhun 22.

Fourth trial against Zhao Wuji

Dai warns the five applicants that Zhao Wuji is a Level 76 Soul Saint and urges them to coordinate before the test 25. He later attempts to stop Zhao when the examination becomes excessively dangerous, but Zhao dismisses him and continues the trial 26.

After Tang San and An Chen pass, Dai helps settle the new students into their dormitories and catches Tang San after Zhao’s restrained palm strike 28 29.

Dai declines An Chen’s invitation to form a two-person team because he already has a partner. He nevertheless supports An Chen and Ma Hongjun’s formation of the Hot Pot Duo and praises their Black Fog-and-flame coordination 33 34.

Canghui Academy confrontation

Dai and Ma Hongjun intentionally provoke Canghui Academy in accordance with Shrek’s philosophy that capable Soul Masters should not fear trouble 37. When Ye Zhiqiu confronts the group, Dai takes the front line and follows An Chen’s instructions to strike the Dark Turtle Wuhun’s exposed weak points 38.
