Personality

Zhao Wuji presents his entrance examination in an almost amiable manner, but its conditions are deliberately severe: applicants must survive his attacks for an incense stick’s duration, and he dismisses the idea that any individual could endure a direct punch. 24

He is a perceptive and demanding combat instructor. During the trial, he immediately identifies Ning Rongrong as the team’s support core and An Chen as the battlefield controller; when Dai Mubai objects to the escalating danger, Zhao Wuji replies that the examination ground contains “only examinees.” 25 26

Despite his harsh methods, he respects ingenuity and determination. He acknowledges the examinees’ coordination, allows Tang San and An Chen to continue after the initial failure, and accepts their admission after they force him to employ multiple Soul Skills. 26 27 28

Fourth Trial Examiner

Zhao Wuji personally administers Shrek Academy’s fourth entrance trial, requiring Tang San, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, and An Chen to survive his attacks as a group. 24

He initially overwhelms the applicants, defeating or injuring most of them after transforming with his Martial Soul. Tang San and An Chen then continue the test together, using An Chen’s analysis of Zhao Wuji’s soul-power circulation to guide Tang San’s attacks. 26 27

Their combined assault damages and poisons Zhao Wuji, while An Chen uses Shadow Mark and his Iron Pot to open flaws in the Immovable Wisdom King Body. Once the incense burns out, Zhao Wuji passes them and orders them to report to the academy playground. 28

Shrek Instructor

After the examination, Zhao Wuji confirms the five applicants’ admission and directs Dai Mubai to settle them into their dormitories. 29

He later ends the Shrek students’ fight with Ye Zhiqiu, dismisses Canghui Academy as “trash,” and defeats Ye with a single palm strike without releasing his Martial Soul. He then criticizes the Shrek group for failing to coordinate fully, particularly Ning Rongrong’s decision not to provide support. 38

Star Dou Great Forest Expedition Leader

Zhao Wuji leads the students into the Star Dou Great Forest so Oscar can acquire his third Soul Ring. He imposes strict formation and safety rules, keeping the support Soul Masters close and forbidding unauthorized attacks on Soul Beasts. 36 39

He secures the Cockscomb Phoenix Snake for Oscar, negotiates its ownership dispute with Chao Tianxiang, and accepts Tang San’s volunteer duel with Meng Yiran after An Chen is too drained to fight. 40

When the Titan Giant Ape appears, Zhao Wuji attempts to protect the students, ordering them to escape with Oscar’s Mushroom Sausages while he holds the beast back. After it takes Xiao Wu and Tang San pursues her, Zhao Wuji leads the others after him. He later guards Tang San during his dangerous Soul Ring absorption. After the group fails to find a suitable Shadow-attribute Soul Beast for An Chen, he promises to assist with a future hunt. 41
