Background

Yang Yu was an experienced hardcore gamer and streamer before being drawn into a fantasy RPG created by Black Spade, a self-proclaimed goddess whom he had defeated one hundred times in a fighting game. Given Hero, Demon Soldier, and Commoner starting routes, he deliberately chose Commoner—the hardest route, with only one life and no save function. 1

He was reborn as the only son of Kari and Lisa, medicinal-herb merchants in Novice Village. Although his parents opposed his wish to become an adventurer, Yang Yu accepted a quest to prove himself by defeating a Slime. His poor starting attributes and the overwhelming defense of even a low-level Slime immediately forced him to abandon direct combat in favor of research and preparation. 1 2

After discovering that Four-leaf Clovers could pacify Slimes, Yang Yu spent a full year cultivating them. His farming became both a survival plan and an obsession, producing a vast clover supply, improved attributes, and the skills that later enabled his partnership with He Meng. 4

Yang Yu approaches the world as a difficult RPG to be solved. He prioritizes information, resource efficiency, skill interactions, and escape routes over pride or conventional heroism. When an opponent is overwhelmingly stronger, he retreats; when a system can be exploited, he tests it relentlessly. 2 4 16

Yang Yu registers as a D-Rank adventurer, unsuccessfully performs an absurd tavern dance to recruit allies, and instead recruits Bai Jin after recognizing her extraordinary Intelligence and rare curse skills.
