Recruitment

Yang Yu first notices Bai Jin alone in the Adventurers’ Guild tavern because her favorability is higher than anyone else's and her status reveals extraordinary Intelligence. Though an adventurer warns him that she is a jinx, he recruits her after learning that she can use healing- and regeneration-reducing curses. 10 11

Goblin Forest and the Rescue Corps

Bai Jin becomes Yang Yu's main magical attacker during the Goblin Forest operations. She freezes and damages Goblin groups while Yang Yu controls their movement, though her Frailty repeatedly limits her endurance and growth. 13 14 17 25

Yang Yu entrusts her with detecting magical watchers and later assigns He Meng to protect her while she escorts the injured Silverwind Squad away from the coming assault. 24 26

Goblin King's Escape

Anticipating the Goblin King's escape route, Yang Yu sends Bai Jin and He Meng to wait inside a cave. Bai Jin successfully casts Healing Taboo on the surviving king, but an illness flare prevents her from finishing it; He Meng destroys the target instead. 38

Search for a Cure

After the Goblin campaign, Yang Yu learns that Bai Jin came to the city seeking an expensive Life-Restoring Potion to cure her chronic illness. She hopes that recovering will also let her develop stronger curse techniques based on the disease. 40 44

When Yang Yu explains that she cannot realistically afford the potion alone, she loses hope. He then offers to help obtain it if she joins his unprecedented adventure as a true companion, an offer she accepts. 44 45

Silver Orchid Research Institute Infiltration

Bai Jin accompanies Yang Yu to Chuanyang City to infiltrate the Silver Orchid Merchant Guild's research institute and obtain medicine while uncovering evidence of illegal research and foreign collaboration. 45 46

The pair pose as impoverished adventurers, with Bai Jin playing Yang Yu's sickly younger sister. After entering the institute, Asna's Charm takes control of Bai Jin; Yang Yu prevents her from exposing them by exploiting her jealousy and argumentative nature. 48 49 50
