Background & History

Han Yu is the younger daughter of Han Zhen, patriarch of the Han Household in Luochuan City, and the younger sister of Han Qingling. She and Qingling flee the Zhao Household after it destroys their family and attempts to force them into marriage. Although the sisters initially mistake Su Yueli for an ordinary mortal, Su kills Zhao Tiancheng and his accompanying Second Realm cultivator, saving them both 143 145.

After returning to Luochuan City, Han Yu reunites tearfully with her father and quickly becomes attached to Su Yueli, eagerly guiding her through the Han estate. Her admiration deepens after learning that Su has effortlessly destroyed the Zhao Household’s strongest fighters 145 146.

The Zhao Household later attacks the Han Residence with a Peak Fourth Realm Daoist. Han Zhen is mortally wounded during the battle, and Su Yueli destroys the attackers in repayment for the Han Household’s assistance in locating the Earth-Vein Baleful Astral Essence 150 151. In the aftermath, Han Yu asks Su to accept her as a disciple.

Su initially refuses, warning that her path is bloody and dangerous. Han Yu rejects a peaceful but powerless life, insisting on pursuing strength. To prove her resolve, she seals her blood qi and carries a thousand-jin stone lion to the summit of Spine Ridge within three days. She completes the trial despite catastrophic injuries and is accepted as Su Yueli’s first disciple 152.

Han Yu is affectionate, candid, and highly expressive around Su Yueli. Her warmth contrasts with Su Yueli’s reserved nature and repeatedly reveals Su’s softer side.

Her defining trait is determination. Han Yu’s father’s death convinces her that peace without strength is merely dependence on stronger people. She accepts extreme pain, danger, and even the possibility of death rather than remain helpless 152.

She is also fiercely loyal. Han Yu confronts those who insult Su Yueli, risks herself to save Han Qingling, refuses to interrupt Su’s critical breakthrough, and later survives alone for five years rather than expose her master to danger 161 176 181.
