Background / History

The original Jiede drowned in a river. The current Jiede is a transmigrated angler from Blue Star who inherited the child's memories, including the deaths of his maternal grandparents in an evil soul master's attack. Fearing a life as an ordinary person in a dangerous world, he became determined to obtain strength by any available means. 1

Before his martial soul awakening, Jiede sought Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Technique in exchange for the Basic Soul Beast Compendium. Tang San gave him only physical movements and false Purple Demon Eyes instruction while memorizing the book, turning their bargain into a lasting enmity. Jiede responded by creating his own cultivation practice from Tai Chi, Eight Brocades, and basic soul-power circulation theory. 1 2

Jiede later acquired a Ten-Year Brittle Bamboo under the pretense of researching soul beasts, then manipulated Old Jack into revealing its existence to Tang San. Tang San stole and absorbed the bamboo's Soul Ring, while Jiede watched to see whether the flawed ring would hinder his rival's future development. 3 4

At the awakening ceremony, Jiede revealed only a foul-smelling pellet martial soul, which Su Yuntao dismissed as useless. He nevertheless tested at Innate Full Soul Power and secretly hid a second martial soul, the Beast-Taming Orb. 4 5

At Notting Academy, Jiede repeatedly refused Yu Xiaogang's attempts to make him a disciple, judging the self-proclaimed Grandmaster incapable of protecting or properly guiding him. He instead prioritized research, his family's resources, medicine, and independent cultivation. 8 10 11

Personality

Jiede is calculating, pragmatic, and unusually deliberate for his age. He routinely uses staged conversations, selective information, bargains, and material support to influence others—from luring Tang San toward the Brittle Bamboo to cultivating Wang Sheng as a trusted future teammate. 3 19

He is deeply protective of Old Jack and genuinely attached to Liu Yun and Jie Yuan, despite being a transmigrator. His promise to protect Old Jack, support for Wang Sheng's struggling family, and decision to heal the injured bear cub reflect a loyalty that coexists with his manipulative methods. 5 16 21

Jiede is suspicious of authority and highly protective of useful secrets. He rejects Yu Xiaogang's theories, hides the transferable benefits of his Foundation-Building Pills, and demands martial-soul oaths before sharing sensitive information about his refining methods. 11 17 24 26
