Background
Chu Zisheng first appears meditating beneath an ancient tree in the core region of Star Dou Forest. Although he seems to be an ordinary eight-year-old boy with no detectable soul power, nearby soul beasts avoid him, and the poisonous fog left by the Death Spider Emperor has vanished. Bibi Dong’s Spirit Hall party mistakes him for a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast and attempts to kill him for a soul ring and soul bone. 1 2
He effortlessly defeats Yue Guan and the accompanying Title Douluo, then suppresses the entire battlefield with a domain powerful enough to immobilize them and seal their soul power. When several Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast overlords approach, he reveals nine blood-red soul rings and frightens them into retreat. 2 3 4
After Bibi Dong repeatedly attacks him, Chu Zisheng humiliates and defeats her without killing her. His attention shifts when he notices the dormant Rakshasa God Mark within her soul. Realizing that divine marks and believers may provide a path beyond ordinary cultivation, he decides to pursue a Self-Created Godhood rather than inherit an established divine position. 5 6 7
Chu forcibly implants a mark of source soul power into Bibi Dong, creating a connection he cannot yet establish as subtly as a true god. He later leaves the Spirit Hall group alive, restores Bibi Dong’s injuries, and places the wounded Hundred-Thousand-Year Death Spider Emperor inside her protected storage soul tool. The survivors’ memories of his appearance become inconsistent and incomplete. 8 9 10 11
After leaving Bibi Dong, Chu is rescued in Star Dou Forest by Long Ling, a Soul Elder who believes him to be a lost child. Her willingness to risk her life for him, along with her faith in the Azure Hunt Goddess despite receiving no reward, challenges his transactional view of belief. 13 15 16
Chu secretly protects Long Ling during her encounters with the Two-Headed Demon Wolves and later answers her tribe’s desperate prayers himself. He saves the tribe from the wolf pack, leaves the wounded Wolf King for Long Ling’s fourth soul ring, and helps her safely absorb its seven-thousand-year ring. Her voluntary declaration of faith makes her his first genuine believer. 20 21 22
After placing a protective Origin Power mark within Long Ling, Chu leaves her tribe for Abyssal City. He carries her hand-drawn map and notices that her continuing Faith Power strengthens the mark he left behind. 22
Appearance
Chu Zisheng usually presents himself as an eight-year-old boy, making his overwhelming strength difficult for others to reconcile with his appearance. Spirit Hall survivors later disagree on whether he looked like a child or a white-haired young man, and can remember only his black eyes and terrifying presence. 2 10 11
- Appears to be a young child despite possessing power beyond multiple Title Douluo. 2 4
- Has black eyes, one of the few features Spirit Hall survivors retain after their memories become unclear. 11
- Can stand and move through the air without visible effort. 2 4
Personality
Chu Zisheng is calm, observant, and difficult to provoke. He responds to the Spirit Hall ambush with casual superiority, treating powerful opponents as little more than an annoyance. His treatment of Bibi Dong is often mocking and cruel, particularly when punishing her repeated attacks, though he ultimately spares and heals her. 2 5 6
He is intensely ambitious and unwilling to accept the limits of existing divine systems. Rather than inherit a godhood, he wants to establish one himself, regarding believers, faith, and divine marks as parts of a new path he must develop through experimentation. 7 8
Long Ling reveals a gentler side of him. Although he is initially skeptical of her selfless faith and often responds to her care with dry irritation, he becomes protective of her and her tribe. Her sincere belief affects him emotionally as well as strengthening his Origin Power. 15 16 20 22
