Background / History
Long Ling grew up in a small, defensible mountain tribe near the Star Dou Forest. Her father, the tribe’s chief, was severely injured in the past and had lost an arm, leaving Long Ling as the strongest active soul master in the surrounding tribes. She regularly hunted, escorted trade convoys, and protected more than a thousand local people despite being only a Soul Elder at the time. 16 18
Her faith in the Azure Hunt Goddess began after she and her father were nearly killed by a powerful soul beast during her childhood. Although no god answered her prayers, she took up her bow and fought to survive alongside her father. She continued believing not because she expected blessings, but because she chose to do so. 16
While fleeing a pack of Two-Headed Demon Wolves, Long Ling found Chu Zisheng alone in the forest. Rather than abandoning him, she carried him to safety, hid him in a tree hollow, and lured the wolves away despite believing she might die. 13
After the wolf pack later attacked her tribe, Long Ling prayed for her father and people at the cost of her own life. Chu Zisheng answered that prayer, saving the tribe and deliberately preserving the Wolf King for her fourth soul ring. 20 21
Appearance
Long Ling is a youthful, athletic hunter with a wild, energetic presence shaped by life in the wilderness. 13
- Wheat-colored skin and amber eyes with slightly pointed pupils. 13
- A golden laurel crown. 13
- Fitted beast-hide skirt and hunter’s boots. 13
- Carries the Azure Hunt Golden Bow on her back. 13
- Her hunting clothes are made to emit a soul-beast aura and conceal her human scent. 13
- Has small fangs that contribute to her feral charm. 15
Personality
Long Ling is compassionate, fearless in action, and instinctively protective of vulnerable people. She risks her life for Chu Zisheng after only meeting him, treats him as a younger brother, and later remains behind to rebuild and protect her tribe rather than accompany him on his journey. 13 15 22
Her bravery does not come from an absence of fear. She is visibly terrified when the Wolf King’s spiritual attack incapacitates her, yet she still chooses to lure the pack away from Chu Zisheng. 14
She is cheerful, blunt, and occasionally naïve, often teasing Chu Zisheng or fussing over him as though he were a helpless child. Her confidence conceals the pressure of serving as the sole Soul Elder responsible for several neighboring tribes. 15 18
Abilities & Skills
Azure Hunt Golden Bow
Long Ling’s martial soul is a golden hunting bow associated with the traditions and legends of the Azure Hunt Goddess. 13 21

- Delayed and confused more than a dozen pursuing Two-Headed Demon Wolves. 13
- Prioritizes crowd control and escape over lethal force. 13
- Consumes a large amount of soul power, leaving her weakened immediately afterward. 13
