Background

Su Fan was once known as Sword God Mountain's least talented disciple. His admission was attributed to his status as the young master of the Gan Royal Estate and his engagement to the gifted Wu Aoxue; after losing both his backing and engagement, he was cast into the Cliff of Reflection. 4

At the Cliff of Reflection, Su Fan discovered the Forbidden Art Graveyard. Rather than regarding its tombs as taboo, he viewed their techniques as “invincible grand techniques,” choosing forbidden arts because his poor innate talent made orthodox cultivation painfully slow. 2 4

His first confirmed kill came when Tang Duan attempted to assassinate him. Su Fan used the Life-Sacrificing Sword to pierce Tang Duan’s brow with sword light expelled from his mouth. 4 He subsequently used Mend Talent repeatedly, raising his aptitude from severely poor to the level of ordinary cultivators, then beyond monstrous prodigies. 5 10

Personality

Su Fan is composed under pressure and rarely shows fear, even when confronted by enemies far above his apparent realm. He pursues strength obsessively because he considers it the only reliable protection against hidden enemies and future threats. 4 5 12

He is merciless toward assassins, hostile factions, and those he sees as cowardly or disloyal. He kills enemies without hesitation, humiliates adversaries who underestimate him, and openly provokes powerful forces when they stand in his way. 12 43 64 75

Despite his immense confidence, Su Fan initially intended to remain on Sword God Mountain until reaching the Emperor Realm, recognizing that the outside world could hold unknown dangers. 11 His self-assurance can become theatrical; when speaking with Yu Xinzhu, he unabashedly praised himself as an unmatched, admired noble young master. 174

Appearance

Su Fan is described as exceptionally handsome, with a reputation in the Eastern Region as an “exiled immortal in the mortal world” and an unmatched noble young master. 174

  • His true face is incorporated into the central sculpture of Sword Saint City, visible only to those with exceptional sword talent. 148
  • His bearing is commonly calm and unruffled, even amid major battles. 69 72
  • His presence and sword intent inspire fear in powerful cultivators across the Eastern Region and Central Continent. 161 197

  • Su Fan later refined and elevated it to prepare for breaking the Heaven and Earth Shackles. 118 119
  • He uses it not only for personal advancement, but also to open opportunities for others to enter the Heaven Realm. 140 150
