Background

Jiang Xuan's childhood engagement to Bai Ruoshuang was arranged by the Jiang Family and the Bai family. When Bai Ruoshuang sought to dissolve it, Elder Bai Moyang warned that doing so could damage both the Profound Heaven Sect's reputation and its relations with the Jiang Family; several sect elders likewise opposed breaking the agreement. 2 4

The family entered the story directly when Jiang Xuan returned as the son of Family Head Jiang Wuhui, the White-Robed God King. Ninth Ancestor Jiang Ruochen confirmed that Jiang Xuan possessed both the Primordial Supreme Bone and Undying Double Pupils, declaring that the family could rise again through him. 10

Organization and Succession

• Family Head: Jiang Wuhui holds ultimate authority. During Jiang Mochen's attempt to invoke clan rules against Jiang Xuan, Wuhui asserted that he had created those rules and could abolish them himself. 15
• Elders: The family is governed alongside a body of elders, whose members may lead their own branches and possess substantial political influence. 10 22
• Imperial Son: The position represents the foremost successor of the younger generation. Jiang Yifei was formerly its leading candidate; Jiang Xuan initially refused the title because of his low cultivation and the danger of becoming a target. 10

Internal Conflict

First Elder Faction

Jiang Xuan's return immediately threatened Jiang Yifei's standing as the family's foremost young prodigy. Jiang Mochen concealed his hostility, but Jiang Xuan detected it through his Undying Double Pupils. 10

Jiang Mochen arranged Jiang Man's challenge to assess Jiang Xuan's strength in preparation for Jiang Yifei's return. Jiang Xuan killed Jiang Man, after which Jiang Mochen attempted to execute him under the clan rule against kin killing kin. Jiang Wuhui intervened, suppressed Mochen, and abolished the rule used against his son. 14 15

Jiang Yifei later returned with the Heaven-Mending Sect to contest Jiang Xuan's claim. Jiang Xuan defeated and killed him in their duel; Jiang Mochen then took his own life beside his son's body. Their deaths collapsed the First Elder faction and left Jiang Xuan recognized as the family's future Imperial Son. 18 21 22
