Background / History

Ye Lingyao is Ye Ming’s daughter and Ye Tian’s younger sister. Although called the Ye Clan’s Imperial Daughter, she spent her life confined within the Emperor Ye Realm due to a damaged Heavenly Dao Spirit—known by her clan as an Evil Spirit—fused into her Dantian. The black mist continuously consumed her life force and cultivation, while the Ye Clan could not remove it without killing her. Despite this, she cultivated without relying on clan resources and reached the Peak Tenth Layer of the Nascent Soul Realm, exceeding Ye Tian’s cultivation; advancing into Tribulation Transcendence would likely have killed her. 64 67

When Jiang Ming came to Emperor Ye City over their marriage pact, he examined her with his Golden Eyes and discovered the true source of her illness. Ye Lingyao immediately recognized him as her fiancé and asked him to take her outside to play before she died. She left the Ye Clan willingly with Jiang Ming, beginning her first experiences beyond the Spirit Realm. 64 65

Jiang Ming discovered that his Sunfire could temporarily suppress the Evil Spirit and relieve Ye Lingyao’s icy episodes. She traveled with him through the Eastern Sea, Immortal Spirit Island, the Ancient Battlefield, the Yin-Yang Life-and-Death Mirror, White Emperor City, and the Northern Domain. Jiang Yuyi identified her condition as possession by a damaged Heavenly Dao Spirit and stated that a solution may exist in the Jiang Clan’s forbidden ground after Jiang Ming reaches the Saint Realm. Ye Lingyao was formally announced as the Jiang Clan Imperial Son’s Consort at the engagement banquet in Jiang City. During the Demon Domain’s invasion of the Eastern Domain, she asked Jiang Ming to help her family and later waited for him throughout a year of seclusion. 68 82 83

By the time Jiang Ming inherited Heavenly Dao Authority, the Evil Spirit had nearly or completely consumed Ye Lingyao. The Jiang Clan’s healers could not separate the two, leaving her unconscious and beyond conventional treatment. Jiang Ming’s hope of eventually restoring her became a major reason for him to master his new authority. 86

Ye Lingyao is a frail young woman whose terminal condition is immediately visible. She is described as pale and nearly boneless, with little flesh on her face and body due to the Evil Spirit draining her life force. 64 66

Ye Lingyao is innocent, sheltered, and intensely curious about the ordinary world she was denied. Having spent most of her life sleeping, taking medicine, and cultivating inside the Emperor Ye Realm, she reacts to cities, the sea, snow, and even unfamiliar establishments with childlike excitement and confusion. 64 65 72 81

She is affectionate, trusting, and emotionally dependent on Jiang Ming, whom she readily calls “Husband.” His warmth and Sunfire make her feel safer and physically better, deepening her attachment to him. She becomes distressed when left alone for long periods and is insecure about being displaced by Jiang Ming’s maidservants. 65 70 77 81 82

Beneath her naïveté, Ye Lingyao is resilient and compassionate. She endured painful cultivation while the Evil Spirit consumed the energy she refined, and she is angered by cruelty toward ordinary people in Ice City.
