Abbendis led the commanders from Tyr's Hand, while Silver Dawn officers surrounded their leader, Marswell. Accompanied by Albert and Augustine, Roderick and the others moved slowly through the Ruins of Andorhal.
This was Roderick's first visit to the newly reclaimed Northrend town since his injury. In order to find Araj's phylactery, every soldier had become a construction excavator at the time. Abbendis's order to dig three feet deep had been no exaggeration. With the mages' assistance, not a single standing building remained in Andorhal, and several enormous pits had been dug along one short street.
Aside from quickly finding the Lich's phylactery, this crude search method had also uncovered dozens of necromancers hiding underground. Other than the few who had escaped by luck, the rest had either been killed or knocked unconscious and subdued by the knights. They were now being held under heavy guard inside the buildings.
After years of Scourge contamination, there was nowhere in Andorhal where humans could safely live. Plague toxins could still be detected several feet underground. This was an absolute land of death.
"Apart from its name, Andorhal's land no longer has any value," Roderick said. The others agreed with him. Without Druids to purify the earth, this land would likely never return to what it had once been.
"In that case, to prevent the Undead plague from spreading, I suggest we burn the Ruins of Andorhal to the ground and purify this land with fire first."
"Chillwind Camp and the camp west of town can serve as future settlements. The barracks east of town must also be preserved. The Undead in the wilderness have not been cleared out, and that will make an excellent stronghold."
