The day before departure, the courtyard was unusually free of the sounds of training.
Gon squatted in the yard, turned his backpack inside out, and began stuffing things into it one by one.
"Purification Stones... ten, that should be enough." He stuffed the grayish-white stones into the side pocket of his backpack. "Color-Changing Dice... ten. Put them at the very bottom so they don't get crushed."
Then he picked up his fishing rod, carefully wrapped it in cloth, and tied it to the side of his backpack.
"Taking the fishing rod too." He stroked the pitch-black rod with a satisfied look. "Once we get to the Forbidden Land, I'll find a lake and go fishing!"
Killua leaned against the doorframe, watching him bustle around with a faint smile on his lips.
"Are you going on an expedition or a vacation?"
"You can fish on an expedition too!" Gon said righteously. "When we're tired from fighting, we can catch a fish and grill it. How great would that be?"
Killua did not argue. His own backpack was already packed as well. His skateboard was tied to the back, a coil of monster tendon rope hung from his waist, a thermal blanket was neatly folded inside, and there were several bottles of fizzy drinks.
"Can you even use your skateboard in the Forbidden Land?" Gon asked.
"Why not?" Killua stepped onto his skateboard and circled the courtyard. "The rougher the terrain, the more fun it is."
