Background

Kurapika is a survivor of the Kurta Clan. During the Hunter Exam, he reveals that the Phantom Troupe slaughtered his people and took their Scarlet Eyes; he seeks Hunter privileges to capture the Troupe and recover his clansmen’s remains 3.

The Troupe remains his deepest emotional trigger. When an examinee falsely displays the group’s spider symbol, Kurapika’s Scarlet Eyes awaken and his restraint gives way to killing intent 15.
