The downward passage was steep and pitch-black.
Gon walked at the front with a glowing mushroom in hand. Its faint light could only illuminate a few steps ahead. Strange patterns covered the walls on both sides of the passage, flickering in the light as if they were alive.
"These patterns..." Kurapika studied them as he walked. "They're ancient sealing patterns, used to suppress something."
"Suppress what?" Leorio asked.
"I don't know." Kurapika shook his head. "But I can sense a powerful remnant of Nen within these patterns. Even after all these years, it's still incredibly strong."
After walking for about ten minutes, the passage came to an end.
A stone door stood before them. A huge circular design was carved into it, with a groove in the center.
"This door..." Kurapika stepped closer and examined it carefully. "It needs a key to open."
"A key?" Gon scratched his head. "But we don't have one."
Just then, Genos's optical lens flickered.
"An energy reaction has been detected inside the groove," he said. "Its energy frequency is identical to that of the Gargoyle's eyes."

The stone door let out a muffled boom, then slowly opened to both sides.
Behind the door was a small room.
