The transparent wall caught the bullet.
The bullet hung in midair for half a beat. The Nen aura on its casing kept boring forward, as if trying to grind through Dankū by force.
Bai Zhu pressed his finger down.
"Shatter."
Dankū snapped shut.
The bullet was crushed into a thin sheet of metal and fell to the ground with a clatter.
One demon held the Mirror Man down without letting go, while another stomped on the back of his knee and forced him to the ground.
The Mirror Man still tried to struggle, but several black stone shards around him reflected light at once.
Razor raised a hand.
The two demons immediately kicked apart every nearby shard of stone that could reflect light.
"You're pretty capable."
Bai Zhu took a breath. His side still hurt, and his throat was full of the taste of blood.
Razor did not look at him.
"Capturing someone is more troublesome than killing them."
Just as Bai Zhu was about to step forward, the mist suddenly retreated.
It first pulled back from around his feet, then the white fog filling the entire stone corridor began to roll back, shrinking through the cracks toward the right side of the Black Tower.
Milluki immediately looked up.
"The mist got pulled away?"
Bai Zhu tightened his grip on Hozukimaru without relaxing.
Ging emerged from the edge of the fog, lime dust smeared across his clothes and half a severed black rope dragging from his hand.
The rope still wriggled faintly, like a living thing.
Bai Zhu glanced at it.
"Where the hell did you yank that from this time?"
Ging tossed the rope to the ground.
"The shadow ability user left it behind."
Milluki stared at the severed rope.
"Wasn't what he reached out with earlier a fist?"
