Cook had left a deep impression on these Fish-Men.
Back then, Arlong had told Cook the truth. Cook had gone berserk over what happened to his brother Tiger, and under Arlong's lead, he had killed countless humans who came to Fish-Man Island.
Cook had been truly bloodthirsty then. Hatchan and the others at Arlong's side had watched him firsthand through his most frenzied days and witnessed all his killing.
"Arlong, what are you doing in the East Blue?" Cook asked.
"I'm going to build a Fish-Man Empire and kill all the humans," Arlong answered without thinking.
"So how much territory do you control now?" Cook asked, his face expressionless.
Arlong's expression froze. Right. It had been eight years. How much territory did he control? He had left the Grand Line for the East Blue, choosing the Weakest Sea. But after eight years, how much had he conquered?
Twenty villages?
Arlong took an involuntary step back. Then he spotted Rogge and the others behind Cook and laughed. "Looks like you've changed, Brother Cook. You used to hate humans. Now you're keeping company with them? They're your slaves, right?"
"They're my companions," Cook said.
"Impossible! How could you be companions with humans? Countless humans died by your hand back then. Have you forgotten how Brother Tiger died? And now you're telling me you're companions with humans? Cook, are you joking?" Arlong shouted.
"Nothing's impossible. I do carry hatred, but I know who deserves it and who I should take revenge on. I won't attack ordinary people without purpose like this," Cook said.
"Then you're wrong. All humans are inferior. Only Fish-Men are superior, and humans should be ruled by Fish-Men. If you're going to call humans your companions, I'll kill them and show you just how weak and useless they are," Arlong
