Xin looked at the man standing atop the building and suddenly laughed. "You wouldn't happen to be Sanada Ryoichi, would you?"
Sanada Ryoichi was the Twelfth Division member who had been identified as the culprit during the previous Human World training exercise and had yet to be captured.
The other man did not answer, perhaps because he had considered that his voice might be recognized.
Seeing that he remained silent, Xin began to wonder whether he had come merely to gauge Xin's strength—or to kill him.

As Xin pondered, the man on the rooftop suddenly charged at him. He moved so fast that Xin's pupils involuntarily contracted.
Clang!
A crisp ring sounded as sparks flew and their guards collided.
Xin stared fixedly at the enemy only inches away, but strangely, the face beneath the hood was completely shrouded in darkness.
Blue-gray clouds churned across the horizon as waves battered the shore like mad.
Screech!
The blades scraped together with a piercing shriek. The enemy withdrew his sword and thrust again, its cold gleam reflecting in Xin's pupils.
Fast!
Xin twisted his wrist and raised his Asauchi, pressing down against the enemy's blade. At the same time, he slammed his right elbow into the back of the man's sword, deflecting the thrust by two inches. It skimmed past Xin's cheek.
Sparks scattered as their guards locked together once more.
Xin grinned, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
Their blades vibrated at nearly the same frequency. The enemy suddenly rose into the air and savagely kicked at Xin's chest.
Xin did not block. He took the blow head-on and used the force to leap backward ten paces.
He panted lightly and gave the Asauchi in his hand a gentle shake.
