Background / History
Heir to the Capone Family
As the Capone Family's designated next head, Bege initially favored containing the dispute with Ohara through the family's usual practice of sending a small force and demanding compensation afterward. He understood that personally leading a major assault would invite intervention from the other four mafia families. 7
His father overruled him and ordered the extermination of Ohara's historians. The attack was intended as a diversion while the family secretly handled a dangerous weapons shipment that could secure its expansion into maritime affairs. Bege accepted the assignment, directing Vito to gather forces and entrusting Gotti with guarding the shipment and its inventory list. 7
Conflict with Jogo
When Jogo killed Gotti, stole the weapons list, and burned the Capone Family's disco, Bege took command of the aftermath. He initially suspected a rival-family attack, but a magazine identifying Jogo as Ohara's youngest historian revealed the likely culprit. 12
Bege cooperated with the corrupt Marine Captain Nezumi to suppress scrutiny of the shipment, unaware that Jogo had infiltrated Nezumi's men and was escalating evidence of the Family's crimes to Marine Headquarters. 13 During the ensuing battle at Dark Harbor, Bege personally transformed into a mobile fortress to halt the Marines' advance. 15
While Bege fought at the harbor, Jogo infiltrated the Family's headquarters, killed Bege's father, freed the imprisoned Acne Pirates, and set the building ablaze. Bege escaped with surviving followers but returned in time to witness the destruction of his home and inheritance. 17 He subsequently assumed leadership of the Capone Family and swore revenge on Jogo, though he initially prioritized stabilizing the organization. 18
Head of the Family
As head, Bege hired Daz Bones to assassinate Jogo and granted him access to the Capone Family's intelligence network. He also negotiated to salvage part of the disrupted weapons deal, relying on leverage his father had prepared before his death. 23
Jogo survived Daz's attempt and later tracked down and killed Vito at a Capone Family contact point. Bege realized that Jogo had become an existential threat to the Family and began mobilizing gangs, negotiating with the Happo Navy, and offering the Marines intelligence and political concessions in exchange for assistance against him. 46
Death
Bege organized peace talks on Golden Chrysanthemum Island as cover for an extensive ambush. He deployed assassins, armed forces, and teams intended to threaten Ohara, while expecting Jogo's journey from Dendrobium Island to take several days. 48
Jogo bypassed the ambush by riding Pippi Fish across the sea and arrived far earlier than anticipated. He incapacitated Bege, Marine Rear Admiral Stainless, and Happo Navy captain Ashi with a focused Conqueror's Haki attack, then placed Seastone handcuffs on Bege to nullify his Devil Fruit. Jogo took Stainless's sword and beheaded Bege before witnesses and a Camera Den Den Mushi. 49
