Garp Held Back

Roger scratched his head, a complicated expression on his face.

"What else could we do? Someone thought our presence there would only get in the way of his plan."

Whitebeard planted his blade against the deck and said in a deep voice, "That brat Lin Nuo—insisted on staying behind alone to cover our retreat."

Rocks folded his arms, his expression grim. "I tried to stop him, but that damned brat wouldn't listen!"

"He kept saying he had a way to get out and told us to leave first!"

"What?! He stayed behind alone to cover your retreat? Against the Five Elders, the Fleet Admiral, and the Admirals?!" Gaban was the first to cry out, his face full of disbelief.

"What kind of joke is that?! No matter how strong he is, how could he possibly—"

Shakky frowned as well and looked at Rayleigh. Rayleigh gave a slight shake of his head before asking in confusion, "Roger, you really left him there alone?"

"I tried to stop him too." Roger spread his hands.

"But he was incredibly confident. If we'd kept dragging things out, we might really have ruined his plan."

To everyone's surprise,

after hearing Roger's explanation, the tension and worry on Lin Nuo's crew members' faces eased considerably.

"So Brother Lin Nuo asked to stay behind himself—" Ginny let out a breath and patted her chest.

"That's good. You scared me half to death."

Kuma and Alice silently nodded as well.

Roger, Whitebeard, Rocks, and Gaban, Rayleigh, Shakky, and the others around them were all stunned.

The looks they gave Lin Nuo's crew became exceedingly strange.

"Hey, hey, what kind of reaction is that?"

Roger could not help speaking up.

"We left your captain behind alone in that kind of hopeless situation! Why aren't you worried anymore?"
