Background / History

God Valley Incident

Ivankov was a young slave fleeing the Celestial Dragons’ Human Hunting Game alongside Kuma and Ginny. He led them through the jungle to find a fish-man capable of breaking their restraints, then quickly organized the trio after their escape began. 1

After Ginny relayed information about Devil Fruits being offered as prizes, Ivankov split the group: Ginny would search for surviving slaves and create confusion, while he and Kuma would attempt to steal the fruits. He accepted Lin Nuo into the operation after seeing him kill a Celestial Dragon and identifying himself as a Lunarian opposed to the World Government. 1

During the treasury escape, Ivankov carried the third stolen treasure chest while Kuma consumed the Paw-Paw Fruit. Kuma later used his new power to send Ivankov away from the encirclement, and the two promised to reunite. 2 3 The fruit from Ivankov’s chest was eventually revealed to be the Mythical Zoan Dog-Dog Fruit, Hellhound Form; Ivankov gave it to Roy after joining his resistance effort. 24 26

Resistance Activities and Tenpan City Captivity

After being separated from Kuma and Ginny, Ivankov continued helping Roy’s group rescue children from criminal gangs. Kuma stayed behind during one escape to protect the others, while Ivankov was later captured. 25

He was imprisoned in Tenpan City with Seastone-weakened Kuma and later reunited with Ginny after her capture. Despite his own guilt, Ivankov reminded Ginny that their actions had still saved many children. 25 29

The gang transported Ivankov, Ginny, and Kuma to its arena as prizes in a public competition. When Lin Nuo entered the arena and challenged the gang leaders, Ivankov immediately recognized him and loudly cheered from his cage. 30

Lin Nuo ultimately destroyed their cages and restraints, freeing Ivankov, Kuma, and Ginny before escaping by air. 34

White Shell Voyage

Ivankov joined Lin Nuo, Kuma, Ginny, Alice, Teach, and Moria aboard the White Shell. He chose to remain with the group despite the dangers posed by the World Government, Imu, and their uncertain route toward the Grand Line. 38

He enthusiastically embraced life aboard the ship, helping prepare the crew’s first celebratory banquet and declaring the White Shell his new base. 38 39 During the journey through Reverse Mountain and into the Grand Line, he continued traveling with the crew and accompanied the group to Twin Cape and Whiskey Peak. 47 49

Appearance

Ivankov is a young man with a conspicuous purple afro. During his imprisonment in Tenpan City, he wore eye makeup, which he defended as a matter of “taste.” 25 34

He remains compassionate even while captive. He worried about Kuma’s condition under Seastone restraints, attempted to comfort a child suffering from a toothache, and helped Ginny understand that their failed escape had still saved lives. 25 29
