Saint Charlos

Saint Charlos traveled to the Goa Kingdom after losing a bet in Mary Geoise. He openly called Goa a “backwater” of the lower world, complained about the assignment, and planned to replace his slaves upon returning home. 13

During the voyage, Charlos ordered Brando shot with a cannon and intended to enslave him if he survived. Brando infiltrated the warship by impersonating CP0 agent Linus, took Charlos hostage, and forced him to kneel at kunai-point. 13 14

Charlos then ordered Linus and Sara to kill themselves in exchange for his own survival. After Brando killed the agents, he technically honored his promise not to kill Charlos by destroying his cerebral nerves instead, leaving him in a vegetative state. 15

Known Appearance

The only specifically described Celestial Dragon is Saint Charlos.

Goa Kingdom Incident

Brando delayed his departure from Foosha Village specifically to confront an incoming Celestial Dragon, considering them rare but valuable targets for the Will of the Overlord. 12

Saint Charlos’s warship was attacked near Goa Kingdom. Brando used a Shadow Clone to draw Linus away, transformed into Linus, and seized Charlos before his guards could react. 13

Humiliation of Saint Charlos

Brando stabbed Charlos repeatedly, forced him to kneel, and mocked him as a powerless “god.” The hostage crisis prevented CP0 and World Government personnel from intervening. 14

After manipulating Charlos into sacrificing his own guards, Brando left him brain-dead rather than directly killing him. 15

Worldwide Consequences

A photograph of Brando holding a kunai to the neck of the kneeling Charlos reached the newspapers, preventing the World Government from fully covering up the incident. Brando’s bounty consequently rose to 500 million Beli. 16

The attack made Brando a symbol of defiance to some figures, while the World Government, Marines, and intelligence agencies treated him as an escalating political threat. 17 18 22

Renewed Hunt

After surviving his battle with Kuzan and learning Haki, Brando chose to seek out a current Celestial Dragon rather than target former member Doflamingo. He obtained intelligence on several future appearances and selected Sabaody Archipelago as his next intended hunting ground. 44 47 48
