Background / History

Queen Medusa rules a Snake-People Tribe confined to the Tagor Desert, where her people have endured human oppression, expulsion, deaths, and injuries for years. She believes reaching the Dou Zong realm would let her secure the tribe a legitimate place within the Jia Ma Empire rather than leave it exposed to continued humiliation. 8

After emerging from seclusion without achieving her long-sought breakthrough, she witnesses the golden Sky Screen reveal Lu Chuan’s creation of the Heaven Tier Primordial Creation Art. Struck by the gulf between her tribe’s lack of even a strong Earth Tier technique and Lu Chuan’s abilities, she begins considering whether a connection with him could change her people’s fate. 8

The tribe’s investigation finds no trace of Lu Chuan in the Jia Ma Empire. Medusa therefore suspects he originated in the Central Plains or another distant region. 20 The Sky Screen subsequently displays her future self, heavily pregnant and standing intimately beside Lu Chuan. Though her elders interpret the vision as proof that she will marry him, Medusa reacts with shock, anger, and embarrassment; she publicly questions whether the Screen is genuine. 20 21

The predicted connection immediately changes the Jia Ma Empire’s stance toward her people. Jia Xing Tian personally visits with gifts, apologizes for past persecution, promises an end to aggression, and seeks Medusa’s future protection through her possible relationship with Lu Chuan. Medusa sees through his motives, accepts the gifts, and dismisses him. 26 27

Medusa recognizes that Jia Xing Tian’s concession could substantially improve the Snake-People Tribe’s position. Nonetheless, she remains unsettled by the thought of gaining those advantages through an unknown man and ultimately decides that, if Lu Chuan truly exists, she must meet and judge him herself. 28

Personality

Medusa is proud, authoritative, and fiercely protective of the Snake-People Tribe. Her frustration at being unable to advance stems not merely from personal ambition, but from her desire to shield her people from persecution and secure them a future beyond the desert. 8

She is deeply distrustful of the Jia Ma Empire because of its history of violence against snake-people. When Jia Xing Tian requests an audience, she initially assumes he has come to start a war and orders that his party be killed; she relents only after Yue Mei points out that he arrived with no army. 26

Despite her temper and suspicion, Medusa is politically pragmatic. She accepts Jia Xing Tian’s gifts because his submission benefits the tribe, while refusing to forget the suffering humans have inflicted on her people. 27 28
