Background / History

Li Lingzhou was hired by Azure Mist Sect Master Luo Qingzhou to assist during the Heavenly Demon Sect’s assault, for a promised fee of ten thousand spirit stones. She arrived a day late, after the immediate crisis had already ended, and demanded payment regardless 16 27.

She first met Jiang Chen at the Spirit Spring Inn while drunk. After drinking his wine and falling asleep in the spirit pool, she later tracked him to another inn by scent. From his residual spiritual aura, she identified his mixed Five-Element spiritual power as exceptionally pure and described his constitution as “half-immortal” 27 28.

Li recruited Jiang to accompany her back to Azure Mist Sect and collect Luo Qingzhou’s debt. After Jiang exposed the sect master’s concealed wealth, the pair extracted five thousand spirit stones; Li paid Jiang his agreed ten-percent share of five hundred 28 29.

She then subjected Jiang to a one-month survival trial on Flame Mountain. Her Sword-Qi Domain prevented direct lethal harm, but she left hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and hostile sandworms as part of the test 29 30.

Later simulated outcomes

In a later simulated outcome, Jiang absorbed the residual Pure Yang Sword Aura from Li’s Sword-Qi Domain. Li returned through a spatial rift, confirmed that her power remained intact by cutting a hundred-li trench through the desert, and demanded five hundred spirit stones as payment for the sword qi Jiang had taken 39.

Another simulated outcome reveals that Li independently recommended Jiang for appointment as a Prison Suppression Envoy. The Bureau approved the application before he could withdraw it, viewing his physique, sword aura, and ability to attract demons as useful assets for demon-suppression operations 48.

Despite this irresponsibility, Li recognizes Jiang Chen’s potential early. She protects him with a Sword-Qi Domain, supplies him with Spirit-Healing Pills, offers him a route into the Prison Suppression Bureau, and later recommends him for an official position without consulting him 29 30 48.
