Zhu Zhuyun's smile instantly froze on her face.
Dai Weisi, standing beside her, was taken aback at first, then frowned as if he had not quite processed it.
He glanced at Zhu Zhuyun and asked in a low voice, "What did he mean?"
Zhu Zhuyun did not answer. She merely stared at Jiang Lan, her gaze gradually turning cold as though covered by a thin layer of frost.
Jiang Lan fearlessly raised his little face, Doro in his arms, and tilted his head. "Auntie, my eyesight isn't very good. You tell me, do you count as dirty things?"
"You little brat, how dare you insult me?" Zhu Zhuyun's expression sharpened as she took a step forward. Faint ripples of Soul Power began to spread from her.
"I wasn't insulting you. You asked me whether I was afraid of dirty things," Jiang Lan said innocently, taking half a step back as if frightened. Yet his expression clearly said, You're getting worked up.
"You little thing, you really don't know when you're courting death." Dai Weisi came back to his senses as well and looked coldly at Jiang Lan.
But Jiang Lan simply stood there without even blinking much.
Doro cooperatively shrank into his arms, revealing only a pair of large purple eyes as she timidly looked at the dirty pair before them.
"My Mama Bo Saixi said that when you go out at night, you have to be careful. If you run into a stray dog, crouch down and pick up a rock." Jiang Lan's voice was soft and sweet. "But I couldn't find any rocks. What should I do?"
As he spoke, he lowered his head and glanced at the ground twice, as though he were genuinely looking for a rock.
The veins on Zhu Zhuyun's forehead twitched.
