Background / History
Six years before his Martial Soul awakening, the Sea God appeared in Bo Saixi’s dream and ordered her to save a child. She found Jiang Lan as an infant inside a giant seashell and raised him on Sea God Island. Even before awakening, he displayed abnormal strength: as a toddler he broke shells open, and at five he carried a three-hundred-year-old Great White Shark. 3
Jiang Lan internally identifies himself as someone who transmigrated into the form of “Little Guga.” At six, he awakened a Body Martial Soul and Doro, then immediately triggered the Sea God’s Nine Trials, earning a genuine golden Trident Mark. The event led Bo Saixi to suspect that he might be the Sea God’s successor—or even possess a direct bloodline connection to the god. 1 2 3
His First Trial ordered him to travel to Heaven Dou City and obtain the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud within six years. He left Sea God Island in secret, manipulated the Purple Pearl Pirates into taking him toward the mainland, and eventually reached Heaven Dou City through Vast Sea City and Skywater Academy’s escort. 16 29 38
The Nine Trials initially withheld their contents because his strength did not meet the required standard. Bo Saixi distinguished being chosen for the trials from being ready to begin them, regarding the delay as protection against premature exposure to their dangers. 6
His cultivation benefited from heavenly treasures provided by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King and from pills he later refined and consumed himself. These resources helped explain his rapid progress before obtaining additional Soul Rings. 49 84
Jiang Lan’s biological parentage remains unconfirmed. When Qian Daoliu questioned him in Spirit City, Jiang Lan repeated Bo Saixi’s account of finding him in a seashell and stated that he had no known father. He also recounted being punished for suggesting that he was Bo Saixi and Tang Chen’s child. Qian Daoliu subsequently proposed becoming his father, but Jiang Lan later confirmed that he had refused. 121 139
After returning from Spirit City, Jiang Lan arranged to manage Honey Snow Ice City remotely and announced plans to travel across the continent before visiting Bo Saixi. His subsequent journey brought him to Slaughter City, the Far North, and the northern seas. By his reunion with the Purple Pearl Pirates, he was traveling with Doro, Zhu Zhuyun, and Lan Fozi and had chosen to prioritize returning to Sea God Island over searching farther north for the Titan Snow Demon King. 142 143 150 152 166
Appearance
Jiang Lan is a short, chubby child whose usual clothing is a bulky penguin onesie made by Bo Saixi. His round build, messy hair, soft cheeks, and orange-flipper-like footwear cause nearly everyone he meets to mistake him for a harmless child. 3 34 39
- Usually wears a black-and-white penguin onesie with a hood and belly pocket. 30 39
- Possesses a golden Sea God Trident Mark on his forehead. 2
- Sea God Form equips him with miniature golden armor and a tiny trident; the outfit is initially unstable due to the bulk of his penguin suit. 5
- Martial Arts Guga changes his clothing into an azure robe, dark-blue sash, cloth boots, and a high ponytail. 55
- Homelander Guga manifests as a blue, red, and gold battle suit with red gloves, combat boots, a cape, and a Little Guga shoulder pauldron. 93
- His External Soul Bone manifests as eight purple-red spider lances extending from his back. 56
- For his first tournament match, wears a specially altered blue-and-white Skywater Academy uniform that still hangs loosely like a small dress, together with orange flippers and a penguin hood. 104
- His later Sea God Guga manifestation includes golden armor, a miniature trident, and a billowing cape, accompanied by pressure strong enough to silence the arena. 133
Personality
Jiang Lan is confident, theatrical, and exceptionally blunt. He is willing to call powerful figures “Mom,” “Auntie,” or “Uncle” regardless of their status, and his honest comments regularly provoke Bo Saixi, Dugu Bo, and Qian Renxue. 3 46 67 72
Food is one of his strongest motivations. He eagerly accepts work in exchange for meals, evaluates mentorship partly by whether meat is provided, and once consumed roughly three days’ worth of pirate provisions. Despite this, he takes debts seriously and willingly worked aboard the Zi Zhenzhu to repay what he ate. 19 46
Beneath his childish behavior, Jiang Lan is observant and protective. He can convincingly play helpless when necessary, understands Bo Saixi’s pain after leaving without warning, refuses cooperation that would harm innocents, and deliberately restrains his strength to avoid killing opponents. 16 21 34 72
His harmless appearance is also a deliberate social tool. In Spirit City, he exaggerates his vulnerability to win Hu Liena’s protection while provoking Yan, and uses the threat of public embarrassment to deter Dai Weisi from attacking him. He recognizes that Qian Daoliu’s token and his surroundings provide additional protection. 117 118 124
As a teacher, Jiang Lan is considerably stricter than his everyday behavior suggests. He emphasizes physical foundations, disciplined cultivation, and practical self-defense, requiring Feng Xiaotian to rebuild his foundation and Ning Rongrong to train despite her support-type role. Zhu Zhuyun likewise experiences a demanding, attentive instructor beneath his playful demeanor. 112 114 152 155
Loyalty increasingly shapes his decisions. He declines the Snow Empress’s offer of a comfortable cultivation environment rather than leave Zhu Zhuyun and Doro behind, citing Bo Saixi’s lesson not to abandon traveling companions. He also apologizes to Lan Fozi after fighting her father and promises Zhu Zhuyun advance warning before future battles after learning how frightened she was. 159 165
Abilities & Skills
Exceptional Physical Strength
Jiang Lan possesses extreme physical power independent of ordinary Soul Power use.
- At age five, carried a three-hundred-year-old Great White Shark. 3
- Before his awakening ceremony at six, carried a six-hundred-year Great White Shark back from morning training as breakfast. 1
- Swam dozens of nautical miles from Sea God Island to reach the Purple Pearl Pirates. 17
- Defeated Level 25 Soul Master Zhao Tiezhu with one unenhanced punch while precisely avoiding lethal injury. 33 34
- Sent Level 92 Titled Douluo Dugu Bo flying into an artificial hill with only thirty percent of his strength. 46
- Defeated multiple roadside bandits using physical strength alone. 38
- Defeated Ma Hongjun before he could summon his Martial Soul and effortlessly caught a roughly thirteen-hundred-year Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent. 52
- Killed a Man Faced Demon Spider with his fists while shielding Doro. 54
- His casual slap left Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape, trapped in a crater and too frightened to move without permission. 59
- Knocked Feng Xiaotian unconscious by striking his exposed chin and breaking his protective Soul Power during the Thirty-Six Consecutive Slashes. Tang San recognized that the attack displayed precise judgment rather than luck. 105
- Broke apart the Hell White Tiger fusion during his victory over Shrek Academy. 108
- Instantly defeated Spirit Hall Academy’s Swift Shadow Mantis Soul Master with a physical punch, without activating his Martial Soul. Xie Yue acknowledged that Jiang Lan was faster than him. 128
- Blocked Level 51 Yan’s flaming attack with one hand and pushed him into the arena barrier hard enough to crack it. 133
- Shattered Tang Hao’s guard with one punch and knocked him unconscious after Tang Hao demanded the source of his power. 143
- With Doro’s assistance, pulled the enormous Lan Fozi out of the sea on a fishing line. 160
Doro Martial Soul
Doro is a peculiar, autonomous Martial Soul resembling a small white four-legged creature with lavender eyes, cherry-pink hair, and a rosebud bun tied with a butterfly-ribbon bow. She thinks and acts independently, accompanies Jiang Lan constantly, and can conjure oranges with unusual effects. 1 45
- Can summon oranges without limit, manifesting a white Soul Ring beneath herself when doing so. Jiang Lan regards this apparent ability to condense her own Soul Rings as highly unusual. 9
- An ordinary summoned orange produces warmth that suggests a restorative effect; a purple mandarin enhances strength, another enhances speed, and a cyan mandarin makes Jiang Lan light enough to jump seven or eight meters. 9
- A golden Jump Boost orange gave Jiang Lan enough energy to fire a golden beam from his mouth. 10
- A black orange caused an overwhelming, indescribable taste that made Jiang Lan want to collapse. 10
- A Strength-Boosting Orange enhanced Jiang Lan before his confrontation with the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King. 26
- Doro can produce ordinary oranges for food, trade, and Jiang Lan’s inventions. 19 84
- She assists in danger, but often prioritizes eating oranges or teasing Jiang Lan over rescuing him from embarrassment. 53 56
- Summons the Ice Fire Twin Dragons, which attack with flames and freezing mist during the ambush on the tournament procession. 114
- Detects Yue Guan and Gui Mei hiding near the battlefield, enabling Jiang Lan to approach and confront them. 115
- Retrieves the Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Lotus and places it in Jiang Lan’s jade box for preservation. 159
- Can carry Jiang Lan during their journey across the Far North. 155
Sea God Form
Jiang Lan’s first Soul Skill transforms him into a miniature armored Sea God with a small trident. 5
- Grants golden armor and a trident-themed manifestation. 5
- Its initial form is awkward: the armor’s proportions and his penguin suit make him round, unsteady, and unable to stand after falling. 5
- Jiang Lan believes the form will mature as his strength increases, eventually allowing him to wield a full-sized trident. 5
- During his third strike against the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, the Sea God secretly empowered his trident with divine force; Jiang Lan did not produce the island-splitting attack by himself. 26 27
- By the journey to Spirit City, he can move and fight freely in the form, sweeping four attackers away at once and overwhelming the enemy ranks with a trident taller than himself. 114
- Also called Sea God Guga during the final confrontation with Hu Liena and Xie Yue’s Demon Charm fusion; its activation releases an overwhelming golden pressure despite his miniature appearance. 133
- Uses Sea God’s Light to form a defensive curtain against the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s immense wall of water. The barrier breaks the incoming water into spray, although the impact still forces Jiang Lan backward more than ten meters. 163
Martial Arts Master
Jiang Lan’s second Soul Skill, also called Martial Arts Guga, transforms him into an azure-robed martial artist and grants broad mastery over martial-arts techniques. 55 79
- Lightness Skill — lets him leap, glide, and change direction through treetops or around attacks with minimal contact. 55 80
- Seven Wounds Fist — channels refined internal force through a punch. 55
- Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Guga Palms — powerful palm techniques capable of leaving deep marks in massive trees and damaging the surrounding terrain. 55 56
- Uses advanced techniques recognized by Tang San, including acupoint strikes, Swallow’s Return Loop, Cotton Palm, and Thousand Illusory Shadow Step. 80
- His martial knowledge includes the Nine Yang Manual, which Tang San considers far beyond the inheritance he remembers. 82 83
- Can transmit internal-cultivation methods to other Soul Masters. Feng Xiaotian finds that reading the formulas already influences his breathing and Soul Power rhythm. 112
Eight Spider Lances
After killing the thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider, Jiang Lan gained a rare External Soul Bone: eight purple-red spider lances. 56
- The lances emerge from his back and are fitted with barbs. 56
- They provide him with an additional close-combat weapon beyond his fists and martial-arts techniques. 56
- Jiang Lan promises to use them to protect Doro from anyone who bullies her. 56
Homelander Guga
Jiang Lan’s third Soul Skill manifests a blue, red, and gold combat suit with an oppressive aura. 84 93
- Its activation caused Xue Beng and several guards to freeze in fear before Jiang Lan even attacked. 93
- While transformed, Jiang Lan casually punched Xue Beng through a wall and left him unconscious. 93
Tech Guga
Jiang Lan’s fourth Soul Skill fills his mind with advanced knowledge of materials, structural design, energy conversion, and Soul Tool construction. 84
- Built a working automatic juicer from scrap metal, a broken pot, wire, tools, and one of Doro’s oranges. 84
- Designed a repeating crossbow with switchable firing modes and paralysis-poisoned bolts. 88
- Developed crude but efficient robots that were later mass-produced for Honey Snow Ice City’s expanding branches. 97
- Maintains a robot workforce he calls the Guga Legion. His robots receive visitors and carry messages, and Guga One coordinates the summons for his farewell gathering. 102 110 142
- Installs alarms and defensive arrangements around his room; Doro reports a nighttime intruder triggering a trapdoor and spider silk while failing to take the Nine Yang Manual. 110
Angel Guga
Jiang Lan’s fifth Soul Skill is Angel Guga, obtained when a golden sphere from the Angel God merges into his forehead and raises him to Level 51. The power spreads through his meridians and body, and Jiang Lan thanks the Angel God before she disappears. The provided account establishes the skill’s name but does not describe its specific combat effects. 136
King Guga’s Descent
King Guga’s Descent is a Martial Soul Fusion Skill activated with Doro. During his second confrontation with the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, Jiang Lan calls Doro onto his shoulder and invokes the fusion after resisting a powerful water attack. He releases the fusion after the whale king departs; Lan Fozi subsequently states that her father is upset because Jiang Lan beat him. 163 165
Medicine, Alchemy, and Poison Arts
Jiang Lan can prepare medicine and teach specialized techniques despite his age. 61 62
- Prepared treatment for Dugu Bo’s poisoning and planned treatment for Dugu Yan afterward. 61
- Introduced Dugu Bo to the Five Poisons Secret Manual, a method of refining poison into usable power. 62
- Refined golden pills that dramatically increased Ye Lingling’s healing range and Soul Power. 65 66
- Taught Ye Lingling the Falling Flower Divine Sword Palm, giving the previously healing-focused Soul Master offensive capability. 63
- His pills can evolve Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan’s Martial Souls and allow Dugu Bo to advance two levels. 66
- Gives Feng Xiaotian a restorative pill jokingly called the Little Guga Happy Pill, which immediately heals accumulated cultivation strain and hidden injuries. 128
- Refines pills valued by the Ice Empress and Snow Empress. The Ice Empress accepts pills in exchange for transporting his group, while the Snow Empress recognizes their quality. 158 160
- Gives the Ice Empress two pills when saying farewell before returning toward Sea God Island. 165
Teaching and Cultivation Guidance
Jiang Lan applies his martial knowledge to students with different specialties.
- Advises Feng Xiaotian to prioritize increasing his Soul Power rather than spending nearly all his time perfecting the Thirty-Six Consecutive Slashes. He regards cultivation as the foundation upon which techniques depend. 111
- Requires Feng Xiaotian to memorize the first three pages of his cultivation material and avoid actual combat for ten days while rebuilding his foundation. Later promises martial arts suited to Feng’s consecutive-slash technique, conditional on his tournament performance. 112 128
- Agrees to train Zhu Zhuqing after learning that she wants to escape her family’s marriage arrangement through her own strength. 113
- Trains Ning Rongrong in stance, footwork, physical conditioning, and close-combat self-defense despite her support-type specialization. 114
- Teaches Zhu Zhuyun Thousand Illusory Shadow Step and a close-combat palm technique. After four months, she can produce three distinct afterimages within a crowd of illusions. 152
Other Skills
- Little Guga Turtle Punch — a deliberately chaotic-looking punching technique used to defeat Feng Xiaotian. Its apparently random flailing conceals accurate timing and exploitation of an opening. 105
- Cooking — prepares hot pot that impresses Skywater Academy and grilled fish that Lan Fozi enthusiastically enjoys. He proposes opening a Guga Hot Pot restaurant. 98 165
- Business administration — writes an organized Honey Snow Ice City operations manual and plans to supervise the business remotely through monthly account checks. 142
- Beast-language comprehension — understands Lan Fozi when she protests being caught during his fishing trip. 160
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud — azure triangular national treasure of the Heaven Dou Empire; required to complete the First Sea God Trial and resonant with Jiang Lan’s Sea God power. 83 84
- Bracelet-type Storage Soul Tool — gift from Zi Zhenzhu, containing hundreds of gold coins, clothing, dried meat, rations, water, and orange jam. 29
- Penguin onesie — Jiang Lan’s customary outfit, made by Bo Saixi. 34
- Repeating crossbow — Jiang Lan’s lightweight invention, fitted with paralytic bolts and a triple-shot mode. 88
- Guga robots — his mass-produced mechanical workers for Honey Snow Ice City. 97
- Qian Daoliu’s token — silver-white token engraved with six-winged angels, given to ensure Jiang Lan’s protection in Spirit City. He later uses its authority as part of his deterrent against Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun. 122 124
- Qian Renxue’s token — allows him to enter the Crown Prince’s Residence; guards kneel upon recognizing it. 139
- Swift Advance Windchasing Left Leg Bone — accepted at Shui Bing’er’s insistence as an expression of the team’s gratitude. The account confirms possession, not absorption. 136
- Honey Snow Ice City Operations Manual — handwritten instructions prepared before his departure from Heaven Dou City to enable remote management. 142
- Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Lotus — obtained with the Ice Empress’s guidance and Doro’s assistance, preserved in a jade box for an ice-using older-sister figure. 159
- Medicinal pills — personally refined remedies and cultivation aids used to support allies, heal Feng Xiaotian, and compensate the Ice Empress for transportation. 66 128 160
- Short sword given to Zhu Zhuqing — supplied for her protection; she keeps it close during the journey to Spirit City. 114
Relationships
- Bo Saixi — Adoptive mother and guardian who rescued and raised him on Sea God Island. Jiang Lan calls her “Mama Bo Saixi,” despite her insistence on being called “big sister.” His desire to see her eventually takes precedence over further exploration of the Far North. 3 21 165 166
- Doro — His Martial Soul, closest companion, orange supplier, and frequent accomplice in his schemes. They later demonstrate the Martial Soul Fusion Skill King Guga’s Descent together. 1 10 72 163
- Dugu Bo — Master and protector. Jiang Lan accepted him as a “meal ticket,” but their relationship develops into a genuine grandfather-grandson bond. Before returning to Sea God Island, Jiang Lan asks Zi Zhenzhu to send Dugu Bo a letter so he will not worry. 46 49 166
- Zi Zhenzhu — Purple Pearl Pirates captain who transported and supported Jiang Lan. She gave him a Storage Soul Tool and supplies before he entered Vast Sea City. Upon their reunion, she resumes caring for him, offers to take him part of the way toward Sea God Island, and helps with his message to Dugu Bo. 16 29 166
- Shui Bing’er — Protective Skywater Academy senior who arranged Jiang Lan’s lodging, offered him support, and recruited him as the academy’s outside substitute. She supports his hot-pot business proposal, deploys him against Godwind Academy, and insists that he accept the team’s gifted leg Soul Bone. 39 98 104 136
- Shui Yue’er — Affectionate Skywater Academy senior who became deeply attached to both Jiang Lan and Doro. She celebrates his tournament victories, worries about his tendency to rush into danger, and urges him to retreat from opponents he cannot defeat before his departure. 35 39 97 105 115 142
- Qian Renxue / Xue Qinghe — Initially an intrigued potential recruiter, later Jiang Lan’s partner in Heaven Dou matters. She helped him obtain the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud in exchange for future assistance. After returning from Spirit City, he jokingly calls her his “niece,” arguing that Qian Daoliu’s unsuccessful adoption proposal placed him above her in family seniority. 41 72 84 139
- Tang San — Sparring opponent whose confidence in his Tang Sect knowledge was shaken after Jiang Lan used more advanced versions of familiar techniques. After Shrek’s tournament defeat, Tang San becomes determined to recover what he believes are Tang Sect secret arts from Jiang Lan. 79 80 108
- Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing — Friends who treat Jiang Lan as a cherished younger companion; he later protects them from Xue Beng and his guards. Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong develop a playful tournament rivalry with him after he joins Skywater Academy. He later trains Rongrong and Zhuqing and openly defends Zhuqing against her sister’s intimidation. 78 79 93 102 114 124
- Dugu Yan — Close household companion and Honey Snow Ice City collaborator who prepares meals for him and affectionately scolds him. She reacts jealously to the attention he receives from other girls, particularly Hu Liena, and asks him to return soon when he announces his departure. 68 96 131 142
- Ye Lingling — Student, business collaborator, and gentle supporter. Jiang Lan teaches her martial arts and Lightness Skill and supplies pills that improve her abilities. She encourages him before the Spirit Hall final, and he regards her quiet disapproval as enough to trouble his conscience. 63 65 66 131 142
- Feng Xiaotian — Initially a tournament opponent defeated by Jiang Lan’s Little Guga Turtle Punch, then his eldest disciple. Jiang Lan guides his cultivation and independence from his obsessive pursuit of Huo Wu, gives him a healing pill, and promises further instruction. Feng publicly praises him as his master and pledges loyalty. 105 111 112 128 129 131
- Zhu Zhuyun — Initially an antagonist who warns him to stay out of Zhu Zhuqing’s affairs. She later seeks his help to change her own fate, becomes his second disciple, and accompanies him to the Far North and toward Sea God Island. Their relationship grows into familiar companionship, and she openly expresses fear for his safety after his battle with the whale king. 124 151 152 165 166
- Hu Liena — Spirit Hall Golden Generation member who becomes charmed by his appearance and treats him as a younger brother. Jiang Lan calls her “Sister Nana,” accepts her food and protection, and exploits her affection to tease Yan. They later oppose one another in the final, where she and Xie Yue activate Demon Charm against him. 117 118 119 133
- Yan — Jealous of Hu Liena’s attention to Jiang Lan and repeatedly provoked by his feigned innocence. After Jiang Lan physically overwhelms him in the final, Yan accepts an orange candy and vows to defeat him someday. 117 118 133
- Qian Daoliu — Investigates Jiang Lan’s possible connection to Tang Chen, then proposes adopting him and making him Spirit Hall’s Holy Son. Jiang Lan does not accept the paternal proposal but receives a token guaranteeing protection in Spirit City. 121 122 139
- Bibi Dong — Encounters Jiang Lan near the Papal Palace and endures his pointed criticism of her devotion to Yu Xiaogang. She threatens him over the upcoming competition while promising unlimited milk tea if he wins; Jiang Lan interprets her restraint as affection. 122 123
- Liu Erlong — Target of Jiang Lan’s blunt criticism concerning Yu Xiaogang and his unsolicited suggestions of alternative husbands, including Dugu Bo. She punishes and carries him away, but privately finds him entertaining. 100 101 102
- Ning Fengzhi / Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect — Business partner purchasing thousands of repeating crossbows. Jiang Lan later asks a shopkeeper on Coral Island to notify Ning Fengzhi that he has gone to Sea God Island and intends to return. 108 167
- Ice Empress — Initially a territorial and offended Soul Beast ruler, later a fond companion who carries Jiang Lan and his friends in exchange for pills. She helps him obtain the Ice Lotus, blushes at his grateful kiss, and reluctantly permits him to leave for Bo Saixi. 155 158 159 160 165
- Snow Empress — Recognizes the quality of Jiang Lan’s pills and becomes openly affectionate toward him. She offers him shelter and cultivation resources at her Ice Palace, but respects his refusal to abandon his companions and offers future help in the Far North. 158 159
- Lan Fozi — Daughter of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, accidentally caught during Jiang Lan’s fishing trip. She later intervenes in his conflict with her father, reassures him afterward, and carries his group south toward Sea God Island. 160 165 166
- Deep Sea Demonic Whale King — Earlier opponent whose defeat involved the Sea God’s hidden intervention. Jiang Lan later fights him again using Sea God’s Light and King Guga’s Descent; the encounter ends after Lan Fozi intervenes. 26 27 163 165 166
- Tang Hao — Attempts to compel Jiang Lan to reveal the source of his power outside Heaven Dou City, only to be knocked unconscious by a single punch. 143
- Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Hidden observers whom Doro detects after the procession ambush. Jiang Lan rejects Yue Guan’s recruitment attempt and unsettles him through comparisons to a storybook child kidnapper and jokes about his appearance. 115
- Tang Chen — Meets Jiang Lan in Slaughter City and asks for information about Tang San. Jiang Lan tells him that Tang San is also there and supplies a crude drawing identifying his hidden weapons. 150

Honey Snow Ice City and Skywater Substitute

He also proposes a Guga Hot Pot restaurant, with Shui Bing’er offering investment and suggesting expansion into Skywater City. His crossbow trade with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect provides another major commercial connection. 98 108
Skywater Academy initially keeps him on the bench as a secret weapon. He first enters against Godwind Academy, publicly reveals his Level 43 cultivation, and knocks out Feng Xiaotian with Little Guga Turtle Punch. He subsequently defeats Shrek Academy, including breaking apart the Hell White Tiger fusion. 104 105 108
Martial-Arts Teacher
Feng Xiaotian visits Jiang Lan to understand their gap in strength. Jiang Lan criticizes his excessive focus on one self-created Soul Skill and his pursuit of Huo Wu, then supplies cultivation instruction aimed at rebuilding his foundation. Feng accepts him as his master. 110 111 112
Ning Rongrong later asks Jiang Lan to train Zhu Zhuqing, who wants to escape her family-imposed marriage through her own strength. Jiang Lan agrees and also requires Rongrong to learn physical conditioning and self-defense. His milk-tea shop increasingly doubles as a martial-arts training space. 113 114
Ambush on the Road to Spirit City
After Skywater Academy wins the preliminaries, the participating teams travel toward Spirit City under five hundred Royal Knights. On the eleventh day, coordinated black-clad attackers ambush them in a mountain pass and target the academy teams. Jiang Lan orders Shui Bing’er and Shui Yue’er to protect Rongrong and Zhuqing, then enters the battle in Sea God Form while Doro deploys the Ice Fire Twin Dragons. 114
The attack is defeated, surviving assailants are captured, and the Royal Knights thank Jiang Lan. Doro then detects Yue Guan and Gui Mei observing nearby. Jiang Lan approaches the two Titled Douluo without their noticing, refuses recruitment, and provokes Yue Guan with irreverent remarks. 115
Spirit City and the Tournament Finals
In Spirit City, Jiang Lan befriends Hu Liena during a nighttime search for food, provoking Yan’s jealousy while winning her protection. During the advancement stage, Jiang Lan demands that Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan face him together. After he instantly knocks out a Swift Shadow Mantis Soul Master without using his Martial Soul, Spirit Hall Academy concedes individual combat. Heaven Dou Royal Academy also withdraws from facing him, allowing Skywater Academy to advance directly to the final. 128 129
Heaven Dou subsequently concedes against Spirit Hall, bringing the final forward. In the final confrontation, Jiang Lan easily overcomes Yan’s attacks, offers him candy and advice, and then activates Sea God Guga against Hu Liena and Xie Yue’s Demon Charm fusion. 131 133
Afterward, Shui Bing’er insists that he accept the Swift Advance Windchasing Left Leg Bone as the team’s gift. Jiang Lan also receives power from the Angel God, reaching Level 51 and gaining Angel Guga. 136
Departure, Slaughter City, and Zhu Zhuyun

After leaving with Doro, he chooses Slaughter City as their next destination. Tang Hao confronts him outside Heaven Dou City and attacks after Jiang Lan refuses his demands, but Jiang Lan knocks him unconscious. In Slaughter City, Jiang Lan meets Tang Chen and provides information about Tang San. 143 150
Zhu Zhuyun subsequently seeks his help after recognizing how much stronger Zhu Zhuqing has become under his guidance. She becomes his second disciple and accompanies him north, receiving instruction in movement and palm techniques over several months. 151 152
Far North and the Northern Seas
Jiang Lan, Doro, and Zhu Zhuyun encounter the Ice Empress after entering her territory. Although their initial interaction is contentious, Jiang Lan’s pills, sincerity, and affection establish a warmer relationship. The Snow Empress also becomes interested in caring for him and offers her Ice Palace, but he declines rather than leave his companions. 155 158 159
With the Ice Empress’s help, he obtains a Ten-Thousand-Year Ice Lotus for an ice-using sister and travels to the coast. There, he accidentally catches Lan Fozi while fishing, leading to a confrontation with the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King. Jiang Lan uses Sea God’s Light and King Guga’s Descent in the battle; Lan Fozi’s intervention ends the conflict. 159 160 163 165 166
Jiang Lan apologizes to Lan Fozi, reassures Zhu Zhuyun after frightening her during the battle, and returns to bid the Ice Empress farewell. He decides that seeing Bo Saixi is more important than continuing farther north. 165 166
Reunion with the Purple Pearl Pirates
Jiang Lan’s group travels south on Lan Fozi’s back for more than a month, fishing, grilling meals, and resupplying at islands. He recognizes the Purple Pearl Pirates through the smell of grilled fish and rum and reunites with Zi Zhenzhu, astonishing the crew with his enormous whale companion. 165 166
Lan Fozi waits offshore to avoid frightening Coral Island’s inhabitants. Zi Zhenzhu provides food and transportation assistance, while Jiang Lan asks her to send Dugu Bo a reassuring letter. On Coral Island, he also asks a shopkeeper to tell Ning Fengzhi that he is visiting Sea God Island and will return. 166 167
