Background / History
Bo Saixi has watched over Sea God Island for more than a century. She recalls remaining composed during challenges from Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen and even continuing to drink tea when the Deep Sea Demon Whale attacked 11.
Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen both pursued her romantically. She told them she would be with whichever first reached rank one hundred, leading both men to seek a path to godhood. Neither ultimately won her hand 48 148.
Six years before Jiang Lan’s Martial Soul awakening, the Sea God appeared in Bo Saixi’s dream and instructed her to rescue a child. Following his guidance at dawn, she found a baby inside a giant seashell, wrapped in an unidentified beast hide and chewing kelp. His first utterance to her was “Guga” 3.
She brought him to Sea God Palace and raised him, teaching him to walk, speak, and recognize sea soul beasts. His extraordinary strength and resemblance to the Sea God’s mannerisms repeatedly made her question his origins 3.
Appearance
- Hair: Long, deep-blue hair reaching her waist, repeatedly described as resembling ocean waves 3.
- Clothing: A long crimson robe that billows in the sea breeze 3 168.
- Features: Exceptionally beautiful, with finely sculpted facial features 3.
- Bearing: An upright posture and a cold, imposing expression befitting the High Priestess 6 11.
- Presence: Her arrival brings suffocating pressure; her aura is described as seeming to lower the surrounding temperature 3.
Personality
Bo Saixi ordinarily presents herself as cold, dignified, and unquestionable. Island soul masters kneel before her, and she can enforce silence with a glance. Jiang Lan disrupts that composure: she argues with him over calling her “Mama,” struggles not to laugh at his miniature Sea God Form, and becomes exhausted by his and Doro’s mischief 3 6 11.
Her sternness conceals deep maternal affection. She initially worries that punishing Jiang Lan made him feel unwanted, then fears that he will go hungry, be deceived, or encounter dangerous soul beasts after leaving the island. When he returns after years without letters, she openly cries and embraces him 20 169.
Her devotion to the Sea God does not prevent private criticism. His favoritism toward Jiang Lan makes her question his fairness, while his decision to send the child overseas without warning provokes a direct, angry address to his portrait 5 20.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Jiang Lan’s Awakening
After confirming Jiang Lan’s Trident Mark, Bo Saixi orders witnesses not to spread news of the event, threatening expulsion from Sea God Island. She takes him home to examine his unusual Martial Souls, only to find Doro’s demonstration profoundly unimpressive 3 4.
Jiang Lan’s unsolicited Divine-bestowed Soul Ring deepens her suspicion of divine favoritism. Nevertheless, she is relieved when the Nine Trials initially withhold assignments because his strength is insufficient 5 6.
Departure and Separation
After Jiang Lan misses dinner, Bo Saixi learns that he has left for the Heaven Dou Empire to undertake his examination. Her anger shifts from his disappearance to the Sea God’s failure to warn her, followed by concern over the dangers awaiting a six-year-old outside the island 19 20.
She keeps his dinner warm, remembers his promise to save her the best shark meat, and softly wishes for his safety. During the following month, she repeatedly watches the northern sea, sets an extra place at meals, and touches the dried-fish wind chime he left behind 21 22.
Homecoming
When Jiang Lan returns, Bo Saixi carries him to Sea God Palace and confronts him over years of silence. He apologizes and promises to announce future journeys and send daily letters using Little Guga robots 168 169.
She embraces him, confines him to the palace for three days while his injuries heal, and arranges a feast. The reunion then turns toward old connections when he reports mistreatment by Tang Hao and Tang San 169.
