"Doro, get me an Orange."
Doro trotted over, spat out a glittering golden Orange, and held it out to him with her tiny paw-hands.
This was her Strength-Boosting Orange. It was darker in color and glossier than the one she had given Jiang Lan last time, giving off a rich fruity fragrance.
Jiang Lan took the orange and swallowed it in one bite. Then he raised his trident again and assumed a charging stance.
"Third move." Jiang Lan's voice was calm as the hood of his penguin onesie flapped loudly in the sea breeze.
The Deep Sea Demon Whale King watched him with interest, a barely noticeable trace of approval flashing through its single eye.
The kid might be weak, but he certainly had guts.
But guts were useless. The gap in strength could not be bridged by courage alone.
"Come on. Once the third move is over, this king will eat."
Divine Realm, Asura God's Temple.
The Sea God was sprawled lazily in a chair, one leg draped over the armrest and swinging back and forth. He held a cup of divine brew that he had no idea where he had swiped.
The Asura God was absent. He was alone in the entire temple, and it was so quiet that he could hear nothing but himself drinking.
Then his movements suddenly froze.
He sensed something.
The Sea God set down his cup, his brows drawing together slightly. Then he closed his eyes, sending his spiritual power through the barrier between the Divine Realm and the lower realm, where it descended upon a stretch of sea he knew all too well.
He saw the Deep Sea Demon Whale King, saw the Zi Zhenzhu, saw the terrified pirates on the deck, and saw the tiny child in a penguin outfit on the sea, soaked to the bone yet still refusing to lower his trident.
"Deep Sea Demon Whale King?" The Sea God's expression instantly turned cold. His fingers unconsciously clenched around the armrest. "You old bastard who's lived for who knows how many years, bullying a six-year-old child? And you even let him have three moves? Have you no shame?"
He took a deep breath, his fist cracking as he clenched it.
After all these years, that demonic whale was still just as shameless.
Back when he had beaten it up, it had acted meek as a mouse. Now it had encountered a six-year-old successor and was suddenly all fired up.
Then he noticed that Jiang Lan had just launched his third attack. Although the trident was considerably stronger than the first two, it still posed no threat to the Deep Sea Demon Whale King.
The Sea God exhaled and curled his lips into a meaningful smile.
"Third move, huh? Letting him have three moves, huh?" The Sea God rolled his wrist as divine power began gathering at his fingertips. "Fine. For the third move, I'll let you relive some old memories. Consider it a long-overdue reunion gift for an old bastard like you."
He raised his right hand. A faint dark-blue light glimmered at the tip of his index finger, deeper than the color found in the ocean's greatest depths and containing power enough to move mountains and fill seas.
The Sea God flicked his finger toward the lower realm. That speck of blue light silently pierced the barrier of the Divine Realm, transforming into an invisible meteor as it fell into the lower realm.
Over the sea, Jiang Lan's third move had already been unleashed.
He leaped into the air, his miniature trident carving a golden arc through the lingering light of the setting sun.
He put every ounce of strength into this strike. Empowered by the Strength-Boosting Orange, even the trident's tip produced a sharp whistle as it tore through the air.
The Deep Sea Demon Whale King did not even blink.
This strike was indeed a little stronger than the first two, but it had merely gone from scratching an itch to swatting a mosquito.
It had even prepared what it would say after the attack: "The three moves are over. This king will eat."
It thought the line was both imposing and humorous, perfectly suited for this occasion.
Then Jiang Lan's trident came down.
The instant the trident tip was about to touch the Deep Sea Demon Whale King's scales, a dark-blue radiance erupted without warning.
In an instant, the miniature trident was completely shrouded in dark-blue light. The radiance spread upward along the shaft, outlining the phantom image of a massive, complete trident.
That phantom stood dozens of zhang tall, its entire body flowing with a blue radiance as deep as the ocean, emanating a pressure that made the entire sea tremble.
Jiang Lan felt the trident in his hand suddenly become lighter, as light as a feather.
A force countless millions of times stronger than his own supported the trident, guiding his hand and bringing it down upon the Deep Sea Demon Whale King along a trajectory and at a speed he could not comprehend.
The Deep Sea Demon Whale King's single eye suddenly widened.
It recognized that blue light.
It recognized it far too damn well.
Human child, you actually tricked me!
Despicable and shameless!
Back then, a nearly identical trident had beaten it from the sea surface all the way into the mud three thousand meters beneath the ocean, and it had taken three whole days to crawl back out.
It would never forget that man's face for as long as it lived. Even if it turned to ash, it would recognize the casual smile at the corner of that man's lips whenever he held that trident.
The Deep Sea Demon Whale King's indestructible scales were like paper before this strike. Its scales exploded, flesh peeled back, and a wound stretching across its entire body spread from its head to its tail. Black blood gushed out like a waterfall.
Its enormous body was sent flying off the sea like a ball struck by a bat, bouncing repeatedly across the surface. Every bounce smashed up a wall of water dozens of meters high.
With the final impact, it crashed into a distant deserted island.
The entire island split down the middle, rocks scattering everywhere as dust soared into the sky.
Broken stones rolled down through the island's fissure, splashing rings of white foam across the sea.
The dust slowly dispersed in the sea breeze, revealing the Deep Sea Demon Whale King embedded in the center of the island.
Most of its body was buried beneath rubble, its tail hanging outside like a loach slapped onto shore.
The deck was silent for a full ten seconds.
The pirates remained frozen in the same poses, as though someone had cast a mass immobilization spell on them.
Zi Zhenzhu felt that she might need to reevaluate the little brat who had eaten and drunk for free aboard her ship for an entire month.
No, not reevaluate. She needed to completely overturn every judgment she had made before.
Before this, she had thought the kid was a remarkably gifted child with absurdly great strength, but still within the bounds of comprehension.
Now, what she saw was a six-year-old child sending the Deep Sea Demon Whale King flying out of the sea with one trident strike and smashing an island apart.
That was beyond anyone's comprehension.
Doro looked up at Jiang Lan's back. Her large purple eyes reflected the golden trident that was still glowing, and she had not even remembered to wipe the Orange juice from the corner of her mouth.
She had watched everything from start to finish and knew better than anyone what had just happened. That blue power definitely had not belonged to Jiang Lan.
But she said nothing. She merely quietly stuffed the golden orange she had not yet managed to hand over back into her mouth, her cheeks puffing up like a hamster hiding food.
Even Jiang Lan was stunned.
He looked down at the trident in his hand, then up at the smoking deserted island in the distance, before looking down at the trident again.
The hood of his penguin onesie slid down to the back of his head with his movements, revealing a head full of messy, puffed-up hair.
"...Gah?" Jiang Lan blinked in confusion. "Since when was I this amazing?"
