| First Appearance | Chapter 2 (divine manifestation); Chapter 7 (in person) 2 7 |
Background / History
The Sea God previously fought the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King and drove it three thousand meters beneath the sea with a trident strike. The Whale King retained the humiliation for countless years and later targeted Jiang Lan as a substitute for revenge. 24 27
Six years before Jiang Lan’s Martial Soul awakening, the Sea God appeared in Bo Saixi’s dream and instructed her to rescue a child. Following his guidance, she found the infant Jiang Lan in a giant seashell on the shore and brought him back to Sea God Palace to raise. 3
He selected Jiang Lan as an inheritor through official divine channels, though the unusual favor shown to the child led Bo Saixi, the Asura God, and the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King to suspect a blood relationship. The Sea God repeatedly denies that Jiang Lan is his illegitimate son. 3 7 24
According to the Asura God, the Sea God wants to leave his divine duties behind and explore the universe. The Asura God also states that he would have departed long ago if an unspecified person had not encountered trouble; instead, he remains in the Divine Realm watching events in other worlds. 7
Appearance
When confronting the Asura God, the Sea God wears an ornate blue divine robe and has flamboyant blue hair. His genuine trident manifests with deep-blue radiance. 8
- Blue divine robe — described as being made from one hundred and eight kinds of silk. 8
- Blue hair — disheveled into a “bird’s nest” after the Asura God’s beating. 9
- Sea God Trident — his authentic weapon, distinct from Jiang Lan’s miniature soul-skill version. 8
Personality
The Sea God is carefree, irreverent, and prone to making reckless jokes. His attempt to deflect accusations about Jiang Lan by suggesting Tang San was the Asura God’s illegitimate son escalated into a disastrous fight. 7 8
He becomes visibly flustered when accused of secretly fathering Jiang Lan, insisting that Jiang Lan is simply an officially chosen inheritor. 7 Despite his casual demeanor, he reacts angrily when the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King threatens Jiang Lan and secretly intervenes to protect him. 26 28
His generosity toward Jiang Lan is unusually spontaneous and personal. He initially grants the child a Divine-bestowed Soul Ring because he finds him interesting, cute, and somewhat similar to himself, without considering how suspicious this preferential treatment might appear. Bo Saixi contrasts this with his previous reluctance to reward other trial participants, while the Asura God points out that he treated Bo Saixi far less generously. 5 7
His protective behavior also carries a mischievous streak: rather than openly confront the Whale King, he covertly empowers Jiang Lan’s attack, assists the ship’s escape, and then humiliates his old enemy with divine insults. 26 28
Power Progression
The Sea God is already a god when introduced. No increase in his own divine rank or cultivation is recorded in these events; the milestones below concern demonstrations of his existing power and inheritance authority.
| Chapter(s) | Status / Milestone | Power or Authority Demonstrated |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Earlier divine guidance, recalled six years later | Appears in Bo Saixi’s dream and directs her to rescue the infant Jiang Lan. 3 |
| 2 | Jiang Lan’s divine selection | His power illuminates all seven Sacred Pillars and places the golden Trident Mark on Jiang Lan’s forehead, initiating the Sea God’s Nine Trials. 2 |
| 5, 6 | Early support and postponed examinations | Grants a Divine-bestowed Soul Ring before any trial is completed, while withholding trial assignments until Jiang Lan meets the required strength. 5 6 |

Abilities & Skills
Divine Examination Authority
The Sea God’s authority can mark candidates, initiate the Sea God’s Nine Trials, and grant divine rewards.
- All seven Sacred Pillars of Sea God Island responded when Jiang Lan triggered the Nine Trials; a golden Trident Mark appeared on Jiang Lan’s forehead. 2
- Jiang Lan’s trials were initially withheld because his level and age made attempting them fatal. 6
- Jiang Lan received a Divine-bestowed Soul Ring and advanced to Level 11 before completing a trial. 5
- Jiang Lan’s First Trial required him to travel to Heaven Dou City and obtain the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud within six years. 16
- Bo Saixi regarded an issued examination as divine will that could not be changed or withdrawn. 20
- Completion of Jiang Lan’s First Trial granted 10% Sea God affinity and another Divine-bestowed Soul Ring, raising him from Level 31 to Level 41. 84
Sea God Trident
The Sea God can summon and wield the genuine Sea God Trident, a divine weapon suffused with deep-blue radiance. 8
- He used the trident alongside an azure divine barrier to block the Asura God Sword. 8
- His prior trident technique drove the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King from the surface to the seabed three thousand meters below. 27
- He remotely empowered Jiang Lan’s miniature trident with a colossal divine-trident phantom, tearing through the Whale King’s scales and splitting a deserted island. 26
Divine Power Intervention
The Sea God can project power from the Divine Realm into the lower realm without appearing in person. 26 28
- He reinforced Jiang Lan’s final attack against the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King after judging that Jiang Lan’s own strength could not harm it. 26
- He accelerated and stabilized the Zi Zhenzhu during its escape, causing the sea itself to propel the ship. 28
- He sent divine messages to taunt the Whale King after its escape: “Idiot” and “Asshole.” 28
- He can extend his spiritual perception through the barrier separating the Divine Realm from the lower realm, allowing him to observe Jiang Lan’s confrontation at sea. 26
- His assisting power briefly supported Jiang Lan’s body and guided his hands through the empowered trident strike, then disappeared rather than remaining as a permanent increase in Jiang Lan’s strength. 26 27
Divine Guidance & Communication
The Sea God can communicate through dreams, visible signs, and nonverbal applications of divine power.
- He appeared in Bo Saixi’s dream to direct her toward the infant Jiang Lan’s location. 3
- During the escape from the Whale King, Jiang Lan mentally addressed him as “big brother.” The assisting power nudged Jiang Lan’s head without a spoken reply, conveying that he should hurry away rather than look back. 28
- When Jiang Lan asked for help locating Slaughter City, a blue arrow appeared overhead with the instruction “Below.” Jiang Lan and Doro followed it by digging until they uncovered a dark stone slab. 144
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sea God Trident — the Sea God’s true divine trident; used against the Asura God and as the basis for the remote phantom that empowered Jiang Lan’s strike. 8 26
- Blue divine robe — ornate robe made from one hundred and eight kinds of silk. 8
Relationships
- Jiang Lan — officially chosen inheritor of the Sea God’s Nine Trials. The Sea God grants him exceptional divine rewards and covertly protects him against the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King; Jiang Lan calls him “big brother.” 5 7 26 28 Jiang Lan later directly requests his guidance in finding Slaughter City and receives a divine directional sign. He continues using the “big brother” designation when questioned by the King of Slaughter. 144 147
- Asura God — longstanding divine associate addressed as “Big Brother.” Their teasing turns violent after the Sea God jokes about Tang San’s parentage, ending with the Sea God being overwhelmingly defeated. 7 8 9 The Asura God states that they have known each other for tens of thousands of years and recognizes the Sea God’s desire to explore the universe. 7
- Bo Saixi — High Priestess of Sea God Island and a devoted follower. The Sea God appeared in her dream six years before Jiang Lan’s awakening and instructed her to save the child. 3 Her devotion becomes strained when Jiang Lan’s First Trial sends him toward the Heaven Dou Empire without advance warning to her. She angrily addresses the Sea God’s portrait, accusing him of sending away the child she raised without consulting her, but ultimately accepts that the examination cannot be withdrawn. 20
- Deep Sea Demonic Whale King — ancient enemy humiliated by the Sea God’s trident in the past. The Sea God later protects Jiang Lan from the Whale King and mocks it after its defeat. 24 26 28 The Whale King retains its resentment during a later encounter with Jiang Lan, demanding that he answer for his “brother’s” insulting message. 163
- Tang San — falsely invoked by the Sea God during an argument with the Asura God; the Sea God later clarifies that Tang San is Tang Hao’s biological son and unrelated to the Divine Realm. 8 9
- Doro — Jiang Lan’s Martial Soul and companion. She recognizes that the blue power behind Jiang Lan’s apparently overwhelming strike against the Whale King comes from an outside source and keeps this discovery to herself. 26
Story Role / Major Arcs
Jiang Lan’s Selection
The Sea God’s power manifests at Sea Maiden Square when Jiang Lan awakens his Martial Souls, causing the Sacred Pillars to illuminate and marking him with the Sea God’s Nine Trials. 2
He grants Jiang Lan an early Divine-bestowed Soul Ring, giving the boy his first Soul Skill, Sea God Form, despite Jiang Lan not having begun a trial. 5
The trials initially remain unassigned because Jiang Lan lacks sufficient strength. Bo Saixi interprets this restraint as reassurance that the Sea God will not immediately expose the six-year-old child to a fatal examination. 6
Divine Realm Dispute
The Sea God appears in the Divine Realm after the Asura God concludes that Jiang Lan resembles him too closely to be unrelated. Unable to convincingly explain his extraordinary treatment of Jiang Lan, he claims only that he is “cherishing talent.” 7
His retaliatory joke about Tang San provokes the Asura God into attacking him with the Asura God Sword and Asura Bloodslaughter. 8
First Trial Assignment
While Jiang Lan is aboard the Zi Zhenzhu, the First Trial is issued: obtain the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud in Heaven Dou City within six years. Jiang Lan consequently asks Zi Zhenzhu to take him to the Heaven Dou Empire rather than return him to Sea God Island. 16
On Sea God Island, a golden notification informs Bo Saixi that Jiang Lan has left for the Divine Examination. She confronts the Sea God’s portrait in anger over the lack of warning and the dangers of sending a newly awakened child across the ocean, though the Sea God does not answer her accusations. 20
Conflict with the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King
When the Whale King confronts Jiang Lan aboard the Zi Zhenzhu, the Sea God secretly reinforces Jiang Lan’s third trident strike. The resulting attack catastrophically wounds the Whale King and splits an island. 26
He then helps the pirate ship escape at impossible speed and leaves the Whale King with divine insults after Jiang Lan tricks it into waiting with its eye closed. 28
The intervention has lasting consequences for the Whale King’s hostility. During a second confrontation, it holds Jiang Lan responsible for the Sea God’s mocking message. Jiang Lan uses Sea God Armor, the Trident, and Sea God’s Light to withstand its attacks before joining Doro in King Guga’s Descent; the battle ultimately ends through Lan Fozi’s intervention rather than a recorded new intervention by the Sea God. 163 164
First Trial Reward
After Jiang Lan acquires the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, the Sea God’s First Trial is confirmed complete. The divine reward increases Jiang Lan’s Sea God affinity and raises his cultivation to Level 41. 84
Guidance to Slaughter City
After two months of traveling northwest through the Star Luo Empire, Jiang Lan admits that he cannot locate Slaughter City and asks the Sea God for directions. The Sea God answers with a blue arrow in the sky and the instruction “Below.” 144
Jiang Lan takes the instruction literally and digs with Doro for several hours. They uncover a dark stone slab, which Jiang Lan breaks open, releasing a powerful sinister aura from underneath. 144
