A Martial Soul is the core manifestation through which a Soul Master cultivates, channels Soul Power, and develops combat abilities. Martial Souls and Soul Masters are described as two sides of the same whole; ordinarily, a damaged Martial Soul prevents its owner from cultivating through meditation normally. 216 285

A Martial Soul’s innate quality influences its owner’s starting potential, combat role, and compatible Soul Skills, but the narrative repeatedly treats quality as mutable through training, evolution, bloodlines, Soul Rings, and personal comprehension. 13 241

Ordinary Soul Masters use their Martial Souls as intermediaries for complex Soul Power manipulation, rather than merely protective circulation or simple activation. Different Martial Souls produce different Soul Power attributes and circulation methods, while individual physiques further affect the appropriate meditation method. Improving those methods therefore requires understanding the Martial Soul, Soul Power, and the cultivator’s body together. 108 114

Martial Soul talents distinguish the usual Soul Master cultivation path from that of Soul Beasts, whose abilities develop as innate physical talents. A Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast that undergoes transformation follows the Martial Soul cultivation path, but a Soul Beast merely assuming a human form does not necessarily become a Soul Master or acquire a Martial Soul. Da Ming and Green Goblin remain classified as Soul Beasts despite their human forms. 241 315 338

Awakening and assessment

Martial Souls awaken in childhood alongside a measure of Innate Soul Power. Spirit Hall’s talent rankings score both the Martial Soul and Innate Soul Power on a one-hundred-point scale, then combine the results for placement. 18

• Xu Huxiao’s publicly revealed mutated Twin Arms Martial Soul scored 68, while his Innate Full Soul Power scored 100. 18
• A Martial Soul may be mutated, sealed, crippled, or otherwise altered from its expected form. Qian Renxue’s Crippled-Wing Angel, for example, has both its Martial Soul and cultivation sealed. 275
• A low initial appraisal does not necessarily determine a Soul Master’s ceiling; the Stone Emperor legend and Master’s later theories both reject the idea that a Martial Soul is inherently useless. 13 285

Martial Soul Possession

Martial Soul Possession manifests a Martial Soul’s traits directly through its owner’s body or equipment.

• Body-type possession can alter the user’s physique, limbs, senses, strength, or defenses. Xu Huxiao’s Platinum Dragon-Patterned Arms turn metallic and dragon-patterned, while Hulk possession transforms him into a giant green combat form. 16 141
• Weapon-type possession manifests or enhances a weapon, such as Xie Yue’s Moon Blades or Xiao Ji’s Dragon Soul War Halberd. 34
• Possession commonly accompanies visible Soul Rings and provides the foundation for activating Soul Skills. 16 34

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Rings are absorbed from Soul Beasts and grant Soul Skills aligned with the Martial Soul’s nature or the absorbed beast’s abilities.

• Xu Huxiao’s first ring came from the 860-year Black-Patterned Dread Lizard and granted Multiplication: Gluttonous Grip, enlarging his arms while tripling their strength and defense. 16
• His second ring came from the Dragon-Scaled Black Tortoise and granted Shadow Counter-Spike Light Armor, combining defense, energy absorption, and counterattack projectiles. 40
• Soul Ring absorption may also strengthen the body, bloodline, or Martial Soul beyond the resulting Soul Skill. The Dread Lizard’s sub-dragon bloodline merged into Xu Huxiao’s body and Martial Soul during absorption. 16
• Ring age normally imposes an absorption limit, though extraordinary physique, recovery, willpower, and external preparation can allow a Soul Master to exceed it. 39 40 182
• Martial Souls can impose specific compatibility requirements. Xu Huxiao’s Platinum Dragon-Patterned Arms require Soul Rings from sub-dragon Soul Beasts, while the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon lineage likewise seeks sub-dragon rings to support Martial Soul evolution. 13 159

Soul Skills become stronger in absolute terms as their owner’s Soul Power, body, and Martial Soul improve, but an early ring’s relative amplification may become less significant. This explains why many high-level Soul Masters favor their newer, higher-age skills in evenly matched battles. Spiritual reinforcement and deliberate integration can nevertheless preserve the usefulness of older skills. 200 210

Self-Created Soul Skills

Self-Created Soul Skills are associated with refined command of one’s Martial Soul and are often guarded as personal secrets. They range from close-combat techniques to composite abilities developed by combining existing Soul Skills. 5 210

Xu Huxiao’s cultivation reverses the usual sequence: rather than first understanding a Martial Soul and then creating techniques, he develops Martial Dao Intent through the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms and subsequently forms his Twin Arms Martial Soul from that comprehension. After achieving direct Soul Power control, he treats the Martial Soul’s ring skills and his martial techniques as components of a unified system. 108 110 259

His modification of Golden Dragon Heavy Charge illustrates this approach. Instead of accepting armor that disrupts his punching rhythm, he transfers its effects to a Golden Dragon construct formed from Palm Force, Yang Origin Soul Power, and Dark Sun Spiritual Power, then animates it with Little Golden Dragon’s spiritual essence. 188

Combat Roles

A Martial Soul’s role does not always restrict it to one function. Yun Ji’s Healing Bubble can heal allies but can also restrain enemies, while her Blue Soul Scales enhance teammates’ Soul Power. 34 51

Xu Bayan emphasizes that assault-type Soul Masters should develop balanced offense, defense, and self-protection because they must hold the frontline and protect their teammates. Xu Huxiao further demonstrates that an assault specialist can develop exceptional support abilities: his Bloodline Dragon Banner substantially enhances the Soul Sages Lilith and Qingshan during the defense of Fire Dragon Fortress. 40 253

Evolution and growth

Martial Soul evolution

Martial Souls can develop beyond their awakened state through Soul Rings, bloodlines, cultivation, and rare breakthroughs.

Xu Huxiao’s Twin Arms Martial Soul originated from the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms’ Martial Dao Intent. Its growth is directly tied to his Martial Dao realm: it began as Platinum Dragon-Patterned Twin Arms and evolved into the Four Extremes Golden Dragon Claw, extending from his arms to include his legs. 1 20 241

Xu Huxiao distinguishes energy-driven improvement through Soul Rings from his Martial Soul’s fundamental, growth-based evolution through Martial Dao advancement. Its complete maturation is expected only when it grows from a partial-body manifestation into his entire body. Such growth would also expand the body area affected by compatible skills such as Multiplication. 20 214

Rare resources can also restore or transform other Martial Souls. The Hundred-Thousand-Year Demon Clam Pearl repairs Luo Ming’s damaged meridians and restores his Mountain Tortoise to its original Black Tortoise form. Its powder also evolves Bao Jingjing’s ordinary Crystal Abalone into the high-grade Stellar Abalone. 36 305

Physical advancement does not invariably produce a synchronized Martial Soul evolution. After mastering the Diamond Body and Burning Ring, Xu Huxiao fails to unite his blood essence with Yang Origin Soul Power; his bodily shackles remain closed, his Martial Souls do not evolve, and no new innate ability appears. He postpones resolving the incompatibility rather than forcing a transformation. 311

Martial Soul Heart

The Martial Soul Heart is presented as a rare state of deep comprehension and unity between a Soul Master, their Martial Soul, and their Soul Power. Bibi Dong suspects Xu Huxiao begins awakening one while he resists the Angel Ascension Stairway’s suppression. 108

Xu Huxiao’s case is unusual because his Twin Arms Martial Soul was born from his prior mastery of Martial Dao. His resulting understanding allows him to treat Soul Ring Skills and Self-Created Soul Skills as parts of the same combat system. 108 110

His own explanation is that he effectively possessed the Twin Arms Martial Soul Heart from its formation. The stairway enlightenment goes further, breaking the barriers between himself, his Martial Soul, and his Soul Power so that he can replace the Martial Soul as the medium of complex control. The skills themselves do not become stronger merely because he can activate them without possession, but their concealed activation offers surprise value and bypasses the Elephant King’s Silence effect. 108 109 176

Hulk requires a separate process of understanding. Xu Huxiao identifies its anger with his own will to resist and fight, gives it the concrete goal of defeating Xu Bayan, and gradually integrates combat technique into its instincts. Complete union of his intent, martial skill, and Hulk Martial Soul produces the Golden-Eyed Hulk and confirms mastery of its Martial Soul Heart. 146 147

Teacher Gale also presents the Martial Soul Heart as the Martial Soul’s suspected independent mental power. This power is normally inert and difficult to influence externally. Keeping a Martial Soul active and rapidly circulating Soul Power can briefly free a Soul Master from illusion control because the Martial Soul may remain unaffected when its owner’s mind is compromised. 192

Martial Soul Mimicry

Martial Soul Mimicry is Xu Huxiao’s cultivation method for strengthening harmony between a Soul Master and the natural essence of their Martial Soul. It extends environmental mimicry by having cultivators adapt their behavior, instincts, and habitual activity to the Martial Soul itself. 305

Possession-based training remains manageable when the cultivator avoids frequent active skill use. Xu Huxiao also proposes that meditating after Soul Power expenditure creates a beneficial sense of “hunger” in the Martial Soul. 305

The success of Orleans and Hu Liena’s team causes Martial Soul Mimicry and Soul Skill Decomposition-Combination to spread through the academy’s Elite Rank. Prolonged possession and daily weapon practice become common, though Xu Huxiao has not yet devised a universal external aid for Martial Souls that are difficult to imitate through the user’s own actions. 311

Power Progression

Advanced phenomena

Twin Martial Souls

Twin Martial Souls are regarded as an extremely rare talent. Xu Bayan calls them a legendary occurrence and warns that their cultivation can create severe internal conflicts. 19

• Adding Soul Rings to a second Martial Soul too early may cause Martial Soul conflict or make the user’s body unable to withstand the added power. 19
• Xu Bayan advises Xu Huxiao to conceal his additional Martial Souls and delay adding rings to them until he becomes stronger. 19
• Hulk possession demonstrates another danger: some Martial Souls possess overwhelming instincts that can threaten the user’s self-control. 141 146
• Xu Huxiao possesses three known Martial Souls—Four Extremes Golden Dragon Claw, Monster Shrek, and Hulk—though he publicly conceals all but his primary body Martial Soul. 16 19 241
• Xu Bayan later recommends waiting until level fifty before adding rings to Hulk. Xu Huxiao’s initial Hulk training instead focuses on possession, consciousness, and control without adding rings. 141
• Bibi Dong is another publicly known possessor of Twin Martial Souls. Xu Huxiao uses the potential cultivation conflict as his stated reason for seeking her as a teacher, although his actual motive is future protection and access to the Slaughter Domain. 19

Martial Soul Fusion Skills

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill combines two or more Martial Souls into an entirely new ability through resonance of their origins, Soul Power, and spiritual connection. 285

The accepted academic theory requires:

1. More than sixty-percent innate Martial Soul compatibility.
2. Synchronized Soul Power.
3. A strong spiritual connection between the participants. 285

The Golden Iron Triangle’s component Martial Souls—the Farting Piglet, Fire Dragon, and Four-Eyed Cat Eagle—were assessed as having less than thirty-percent innate compatibility. Their successful fusion challenges the accepted threshold, but Master’s refusal to disclose the method leaves acquired fusion’s reproducibility unresolved. 285

Martial Soul compatibility can also permit dual cultivation. Xu Huxiao uses his compatible Golden Dragon Martial Soul and Yang Origin Soul Power to begin restoring Qian Renxue’s weakened Angel Martial Soul. 285

Because the two lack complete trust, Xu Huxiao develops shallow Soul Power synchronization rather than deep spiritual fusion. Their first successful circulation nevertheless exposes a dangerous imbalance: his Golden Dragon aura overwhelms the weakened Angel aura and appears to begin devouring her Martial Soul. Compatibility alone therefore does not establish that dual cultivation is harmless. 297

Ring Fusion and combination techniques

Ring Fusion is an innate talent rather than an ordinary technique. It can concentrate the Soul Power output of multiple rings into a single Soul Skill or, with sufficient control and coordination, gather multiple Soul Masters’ power into one recipient. Its effectiveness depends on proficiency and what the participants’ bodies and Martial Souls can withstand. 99

Xu Huxiao retains this talent through his Seven Treasure Glazed Pagoda bloodline even after the System replaces that Martial Soul. His refined Ring Fusion, Six-Aperture Wishful Heart control, Dark Sun Spiritual Power, and Crystal Blue Dolphin simulations allow him to stabilize heterogeneous team power and support Hu Liena’s Soul Sage-level Demon Spirit. 99 157

Combination techniques need not be treated as identical to origin-based Martial Soul Fusion Skills. Lin Xie and Lei Dao’s Heavenly Punishment Slash is described as a Martial Soul Combination Skill that intertwines their lightning-powered attacks. Collection Pavilion material likewise discusses formations for similar Martial Souls and warns that heterogeneous power fusion requires Ring Fusion Talent. 8 106

Later applications include the Seven-in-One Fusion Skills Demon Charm Calamity and Golden Dragon Aspect. Combining Ring Fusion with Monster Shrek extends the same principle to the Soul Beasts bound through its blank rings, letting Xu Huxiao draw their power into himself. 334

Martial Soul Avatar and Burning Ring

Martial Soul Avatar provides a major amplification of a Martial Soul’s abilities and Soul Skills. It is normally associated with the seventh Soul Skill, and Xu Huxiao anticipates obtaining his own Avatar at rank seventy. Merely accumulating Soul Sage-equivalent quantities of Soul Power through fusion does not automatically grant him an Avatar because his own cultivation foundation differs greatly from that of ordinary Soul Masters. 147 157 257

Xu Bayan’s Burning Ring Secret Method links powerful blood-qi to Soul Ring energy and demands precise Martial Soul control. 5

Xu Huxiao’s exceptional understanding of his Martial Soul and ring skills allows him to practice the final stage before obtaining an Avatar. He subsequently masters Burning Ring, though it still does not fully unite his blood essence with Yang Origin Soul Power. 297 311

The technique’s demands remain substantial. Xu Bayan’s earlier use raises his power from level eighty-five to level ninety-five, but prolonged combat brings severe physical backlash that forces him to seal his acupoints. 5 8

Monster Shrek and Soul Ring Bestowal

Monster Shrek is an exception to ordinary ring acquisition. It is born with nine blank rings and bestows them upon Soul Beasts to bind and control them, rather than killing the beasts to obtain conventional Soul Skills. Each bestowal grants Xu Huxiao half the bound beast’s Soul Power and greatly increases his spiritual power, but does not directly grant him a Soul Skill. 1 136

Its other innate ability, Absolute Sleep, provides extraordinary recovery during sleep after possession and conceals the user’s form. Xu Huxiao employs it to sustain body-tempering practice and recover efficiently. 80 82

Bloodlines, affinity, and suppression

Martial Soul affinity can affect instincts as well as combat. Plant Martial Soul users may dislike fire users, while insect- or rodent-type users may instinctively dislike bird-type users. Martial Souls sharing an origin can produce both attraction and fear toward a higher-tier manifestation. A sufficiently large evolutionary gap can suppress the lower-tier user’s combat output. 216

• Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon: Its lineage combines human ancestry, dragon Soul Beast blood, and lightning power. Stronger cultivation reveals increasingly draconic characteristics, including true scales and claws above level ninety-five. Declining bloodline purity produces more mutations and weakens the clan’s inherited potential. 159
• Bloodline Dragon Might: Xu Huxiao can precisely regulate its range and suppressive force. Dragon- and serpent-related Martial Souls are particularly susceptible, although Lilith’s Medusa also senses a faint evolutionary benefit from exposure. 216 220
• Bloodline Dragon Banner: Emerges through the combined transformation of Xu Huxiao’s bloodline, qi and blood, spiritual power, and Martial Soul. Mutation and Weird Martial Souls

Mutation can alter a Martial Soul’s attributes, growth requirements, and influence over its owner’s mind. Hua Yuerong’s healing-oriented Golden Rong Peony Flower becomes the Evil Dragon Demonheart Flower, exchanging life and light attributes for death, darkness, and dragon attributes. Its innate Killing-Baleful Turbid Qi and corrosive poison accompany a destabilizing evil-dragon nature; reaching Soul Elder and receiving Xu Huxiao’s assistance lets her fully control it. 231 240

Weird Soul Master transformation produces progressively distorted Soul Power and Martial Souls. At its completion, the individual loses self-direction and becomes controlled by the Weird Martial Soul, prioritizing the spread of faith and the harvesting of lives. 137

Documented Weird Martial Souls include the Myriad Transformation Flood Demon Vine, the weirdified Golden Flood Dragon Tree Vine. Its rings create independent clones tied to individual Soul Skills, while weirdified mutation enables life-force expenditure, sacrifice-based amplification, darkness corrosion, and life drain. The Green Crystal Demon Snake provides a separate case in which a deceased Soul Master’s Martial Soul develops into a living Weird Soul Beast. 149 258

Documented Martial Souls

Martial Soul theory and history

The Stone Emperor origin story credits Spirit Hall’s legendary founder—who allegedly rose from a pebble Martial Soul to become Blue Star Douluo—with inspiring generations of Soul Masters. 13

Later academic accounts instead identify Master Yu Xiaogang as the major theorist who challenged the belief that innate compatibility alone determines Martial Soul Fusion. His work, Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul, receives official recognition and is prominently preserved in Spirit Hall’s Collection Pavilion. 106 285

Master’s Golden Sacred Dragon makes acquired Martial Soul fusion a major academic controversy. He declines to reveal its method, eventually withdraws from academia, and promises to return after training a disciple capable of proving his theories. Whether acquired effort can reliably overcome innate incompatibility—and even produce stronger fusion than innate compatibility—remains one of the Soul Master world’s ten great unsolved mysteries. 285

Xu Huxiao later contributes practical innovations rather than resolving that mystery directly. His individualized meditation guidance, Martial Soul Mimicry, Soul Skill Decomposition-Combination, and synchronization-based team training improve the Golden Team’s development and spread into wider academy practice. These methods reinforce the distinction between innate potential and the training, experience, and opportunities required to realize it. 114 305 311
