Background

Lu Yuan was originally an eighteen-year-old from modern Earth. After apparently dying while laughing at an online video, he awakens in the body of an unidentified young child near Ox-Horse Village outside Shrek City. The village chief temporarily shelters him and brings him to a Martial Soul awakening ceremony 1.

His awakening produces the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire: a black-and-red dragon manifestation with destructive fire, Abyssal mist, dragon wings, and two innate swords. A Shrek deacon immediately brands him an Evil Soul Master without evidence and attempts to force him into “reform.” Lu Yuan blocks the deacon’s Flame Slash, burns his arm with the Sun-Chopping Flame, and escapes into Star Dou Forest 1 2.

Di Tian captures Lu Yuan after sensing his pure dragon aura and brings him to the Lake of Life. Gu Yuena treats him as a possible Dragon Clan descendant, while Lu Yuan deliberately encourages her belief that he may be connected to the Fire Dragon King in order to secure protection 3. A later soul-and-memory connection with Gu Qiu’er reveals memories within his Martial Soul: the Fire Dragon King’s defeat, imprisonment, and Abyssal corruption. Gu Qiu’er concludes that Lu Yuan is the Dragon King’s reincarnation 22.
