Gu Yuena is an incomparably beautiful woman with a cool, otherworldly presence. In her human form, she can stand upon the Lake of Life without sinking. 2

Background / History

Gu Yuena awakens from the Lake of Life after sensing an extraordinarily pure Dragon Clan aura released by Lu Yuan’s Martial Soul. Recognizing the child’s importance, she orders Di Tian to retrieve him unharmed from the outskirts of the Star Dou Forest. 2

At their first meeting, she treats Lu Yuan with unexpected gentleness, calls him “Xiao Yuan,” and investigates his black-mist-covered dragon Martial Soul. Although she identifies traces of the Fire Dragon King within his aura, she cannot determine his true origin. 3 4

After learning that Lu Yuan has no family and was branded an Evil Soul Master by Shrek, Gu Yuena adopts him as her younger brother and grants him a home in Star Dou Forest. She publicly elevates his status to equal that of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion despite Lord Bear’s objections. 4 5

Her adoption of Lu Yuan is also part of a long-term strategy. Gu Yuena believes Soul Beasts are politically vulnerable because they lack divine representatives, while human factions possess multiple god inheritances. Restricted by the Asura Demon Sword’s aura and unable to free the sealed Golden Dragon King, she intends to cultivate Lu Yuan into a god who can defend Soul Beasts and oppose the Divine Realm. 4 16

Following Lu Yuan’s fabricated dream, Gu Yuena leads him and Di Tian to Sunset Forest, where they discover the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well—the resting place of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. She reclaims the site’s Immortal Herbs for Star Dou Forest and awakens the two Dragon King remnants with her Silver Dragon King aura. 14 15

The Dragon Kings’ account of the Dragon Clan’s destruction deeply unsettles Gu Yuena, particularly because she is the Dragon God’s incarnation. She nonetheless renews her determination to preserve the Dragon Clan, oppose the human gods, and foster future successors. 16 17

After six years of nurturing Lu Yuan, Xiao Xiao, and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Gu Yuena sends them into the human world for experience. Before entering slumber to avoid Divine Realm attention, she secretly gives Lu Yuan one of her reverse scales so that she can sense and answer a fatal crisis. 25 26

Personality

Gu Yuena combines authority with a distinctly nurturing attitude toward those she accepts as family. She readily calls herself Lu Yuan’s older sister, provides him with cultivation resources, comforts him after achievements and failures, and corrects him when his confidence becomes arrogance. 4 6 8

She is strategic and patient rather than impulsively vengeful. Although Soul Beasts suffer from human encroachment, she rejects an immediate all-out beast tide because it would cause severe losses and attract god-level human opposition. 5
