History

Sanctuary service and imprisonment

Idrila served as the Scorched Earth Sanctuary’s nun in Evening Bell City and gained military merit during a past battle, eventually becoming a Sequence 8 War Chaplain. She later remained unable to advance for ten years. 41 43

Father Suul placed her under house arrest in the Sanctuary tower and subjected her to a gray mist that dulled her thoughts, reduced her life to mechanical routines, and compelled her to recite the Fire-Chasing Ritual. The Truth Society’s letter identifies Suul’s planned ritual sacrifices as falsely condemned Beyonders, including Idrila. 5 17 18

An account of her original fate states that she would have sacrificed innocent Superpowered individuals during the ritual, become a Firebearer, and ultimately be killed by Suul. Ron’s intervention disrupts that course, though the underlying desire for power is said to remain. 17

Alliance with Ron

Kurt Mendes is sent to deliver a Truth Society letter to Idrila but is captured before reaching her. He entrusts Ron with the letter and asks him to tell Idrila that “the society is where she can truly be accepted.” 3

After Ron defeats the War Puppet guarding her tower, he finds Idrila praying under the gray mist’s influence. He uses Fantasy Dissolution to disperse most of the influence, temporarily destroying the setting in the process. 17

Ron later delivers Chairman Elvis’s letter, revealing Suul’s manipulation and the danger facing the Truth Society. Idrila repays him with a Consecrated Dewdrop, beginning a cautious alliance founded on her belief that Ron serves a hidden existence. 18

Escape to the Truth Society

When Suul and the Flame-Chasing Knights surround the tower, Idrila initially considers sacrificing herself to allow Ron to escape. Ron instead carries her from the Sanctuary using overloaded Vector Manipulation, reaching Truth Society territory before Suul can pursue them. 40

At Selvis Bookstore, Idrila introduces Ron to the Truth Society and becomes his guide through its secrecy rules, Society Codex, and underground gathering hall. She also directs him toward the Academic Salon as a means to obtain a higher Death-pathway formula. 41 42

Advancement to War Overseer

Ron gives Idrila the Minotaur’s Heart and the War Overseer potion formula while claiming they are rewards from his hidden patron. Idrila accepts only after promising to help him acquire a Death Sequence 7 formula and ingredients. 42

She successfully advances to Sequence 7 after enduring spectral blades and internal corruption during the potion ritual. A returning gray-mist arrow nearly drives her out of control, but Ron destroys it with Fantasy Dissolution. 43 44

The Lost Church incident

Father Harvey offers Idrila an investigation commission, but Ron recognizes his unusual hostility toward her. At the Lost Church cemetery, Harvey reveals that his true purpose is to investigate why Idrila appears alive when a corpse bearing her face, scars, robe, and Glimmer Earring was supposedly buried by Suul. 43 49 50

The corpse leaves Idrila psychologically shattered, but Ron determines that she is genuinely alive because Fantasy Dissolution has never reacted to her as it would to a supernatural returnee. After Ron restores her consciousness, Idrila fights Harvey as a War Overseer until President Elvis intervenes. 50
