Background / History

Deep Earth was the first god born in ancient times and was regarded as the strongest existence of that era. He was steady, protective, and known for sheltering weaker gods and living beings; Mountain Shaman and Wind Spiral both remembered him as a dependable elder figure. His Origin Power shares the earth attribute with Mountain Shaman’s, allowing them to sense one another’s strength 134 191 195.

His bond with the Wood God, Mu Sen, became the foundation of his later choices. After an ancient king became the Human Demon by binding Mu Sen’s Divine Soul to the Origin Tree, Deep Earth intervened when the Human Demon began devouring Mu Sen’s spirit body. He later stated that his actions were motivated by his refusal to let Mu Sen die, comparing that resolve to He Qinglan’s willingness to protect Shui Wuyuan 198.

By the present era, Deep Earth had been severely eroded by demonic energy and environmental pollution. More than half of his Divine Soul was corrupted, while his true body concealed sludge, plastic-like waste, parasites, and other signs of contamination beneath an elegant outward appearance 195 198. He came to regard humanity as an incurable disaster responsible for poisoning the land and making survival difficult for other living things 199 206.

Deep Earth secretly used the Human-Deity Group as an instrument rather than serving it. His Origin Power was found within the Flame Gems used to disrupt Chiyan, and he guided Long Xiao’s Second-Tier plan to influence divine beings through Corrupting Power 127 134 191. He also imprisoned Wind Spiral, drained his Origin Power, and forced demonic energy into him 180.

After openly siding with Long Xiao and Mu Sen, Deep Earth tried to use He Qinglan as bait to force Shui Wuyuan into a prepared earth-and-corruption trap. Mu Sen’s vines bound Shui Wuyuan while Deep Earth’s Corrupting Power drove him into demonic corruption 199 200. Deep Earth then escalated the conflict into a global catastrophe, seeking to erase humanity, the existing gods, and what he called the world’s “filth” so that heaven and earth could be reborn 206 209 211.

His final strategy involved killing Long Xiao, taking control of the accumulated divine and demonic power, slaughtering several gods for their Origins, and feeding those Origins to the dying Mu Sen 209 210 211. Deep Earth was ultimately defeated when He Qinglan drew strength from the world’s living beings to cleanse the corruption consuming the Heavenly River. As he fell, Mu Sen merged their remaining power into the earth 213 215.

Deep Earth ordinarily appeared as a handsome, broad-shouldered man with a steady, dependable bearing, deep-brown eyes, and an elegant, composed demeanor 158 196.

Personality

Deep Earth was once remembered as gentle, reliable, and protective toward weaker gods. Even after his fall, he remained controlled, articulate, and capable of speaking with warmth toward He Qinglan and Mu Sen 134 195 196.

His compassion narrowed into an obsessive protectiveness of Mu Sen and a consuming hatred of humanity. He saw pollution, resource extraction, deforestation, and the suffering of animals as proof that humanity deserved judgment; eventually, he accepted the destruction of animals, plants, gods, and humanity alike as the price of a “perfect” rebirth 199 206 209.

He was also a patient strategist. Rather than confront humanity directly while constrained by backlash and Mu Sen’s condition, he manipulated the Human-Deity Group, empowered Long Xiao, exploited divine bonds, and prepared traps around his opponents’ attachments 191 199 205.
