"Hahaha... I'd been lying low here for three years, and I never realized you were only pretending to be insane..."
Director Li walked toward Su Ziyu step by step. "But none of that matters anymore. The priest has set up ritual arrays throughout the courtyard. The Blood Rite: Two-Track God-Sacrifice Ritual is about to begin, and this asylum will become an offering to our lord!"
"As for you... if I kill you and offer a Beyonder like you to Lord Ghoul God, perhaps I'll be promoted to priest because of it!"
Director Li suddenly sprang forward, arriving before Su Ziyu like a hyena. His sharp claws slashed wildly through the air, gleaming with a chilling light.
With both hands in his pockets, Su Ziyu casually dodged from side to side. With the powerful dynamic vision granted by the All-Seeing True Eye, his opponent's movements were as slow as a crawling turtle. Seizing the right moment, he lowered his body, black currents wrapped around his palm, and he swiftly struck Director Li in the stomach!
The instant they made contact, black flames erupted, leaving a deep burn mark on his abdomen. Director Li was sent flying by the force, overturning the seats behind him before crashing into the wall. Black fire scattered everywhere, igniting the floor, tables, and chairs as though it would reduce everything in sight to ashes.
"Argh!"
Director Li's gaunt, dark face twisted at once. Realizing how terrifying the black flames burning his abdomen were, he actually endured the agony and tore off that chunk of flesh, exposing a hollow abdomen.
The black fire remained attached to the torn-off flesh, slowly burning it away.
This was Netherworld Ghostfire from the Nether Eon. Legend had it that, once fully grown, it could burn away the entire world!
Director Li got to his feet again, twisted his ugly mouth, and roared:
"What are you standing around for? Get the fuck over here!"
He was speaking to the doctors and nurses who had been seated in the front row. With Director Li's order, they all moved.
The two male doctors transformed into Ghouls just like Director Li, dropping to all fours and charging at Su Ziyu like hyenas. The two female nurses' heads split vertically down the middle, and three tentacles extended from each opening. Like tongues, they caressed the tables and chairs; wherever they touched, the area was instantly corrupted.
The four monsters let out hoarse roars and charged at him madly.
Su Ziyu was utterly fearless, a faintly fanatical gleam appearing in his eyes.
The most frustrating thing in the world was gaining immense power but having no opponents to show off against!
Su Ziyu formed several more dark hand signs.
"Dark Wisdom: Touch of Hell!"
The surrounding ground was once again covered in darkness like a black tide. Then, as though emerging from water, pale, mottled arms rose one after another and seized the four monsters by the ankles, stopping them from advancing.
"Roar!"
They roared defiantly. The arms around their ankles stacked upward like a human pyramid, quickly spreading to their waists, with some crawling onto their faces.
One of the female nurse monsters let out a frenzied howl. The three tentacles extending from her head lashed about wildly, striking the walls and sending powdery debris raining down. Tables and chairs were flung into the air, turning into chunks of decayed black wood. Some tentacles whipped toward Su Ziyu, but stopped thirty centimeters before him. A hazy, translucent black curtain had formed, blocking their attack.
"Die."
Su Ziyu murmured, lowering his arm slightly. The four monsters slowly began sinking, while the ground turned into something like a swamp.
"You... you're not an ordinary Beyonder!"
Director Li let out a bone-chilling roar. Somehow, he had appeared behind Su Ziyu.
Just as he thought his sneak attack would succeed, a tiny black shadow suddenly flashed through a blind spot in his vision and stung his neck like a mosquito.
He paid it no mind. Just as he thought he was about to grab Su Ziyu, a slick tentacle suddenly coiled around his arm, followed by another around his waist. He was thrown down from midair and glared furiously behind him.
Though he was a Ghoul, and though as a cultist he had witnessed many horrific bloody rituals and monsters, the sight of that eyeball still made his heart sink heavily.
After being nourished by blood, the Dread Demon Eye was no longer merely palm-sized as before. Hazy blood mist spread around it, revealing its increasingly enormous form. The tentacle from earlier had been sent out by the Dread Demon Eye, wrapped in blood mist.
The blood mist gradually contracted and dispersed, revealing its new state.
After entering its berserk state, the Dread Demon Eye had abruptly grown to the size of two footballs. The eyeball split open down the middle, revealing rows of illusory teeth along with countless black tentacles. These tentacles were as thin as hairs, yet each seemed alive, thirsting for blood.
Director Li's ambush had naturally been within Su Ziyu's field of vision all along. He had simply ignored him in order to turn the tables, sending the smaller Dread Demon Eye into battle. After all, he could sense that the Dread Demon Eye had been restless in his pocket, as though it too craved blood.
"You... who exactly are you... You can control a monster of this level... Are you a Morning Star Tier powerhouse?!"
Beyond Awakening lay Morning Star!
With the power to destroy an entire city with a single move, countless Awakeners had remained stuck at Awakening Ninth Stage for their entire lives, never stepping into Morning Star!
Director Li tried to crawl elsewhere, but the tentacles held him fast, preventing him from moving even a single step. He stared at Su Ziyu in terror, his eyes filled with incomprehension and confusion.
He had lurked here for three years in order to preside over this grand blood sacrifice, all to earn the favor of the Ghoul God.
Yet Su Ziyu was like an insect on the strings of fate, disrupting destiny's arrangements and shattering every one of his plans and schemes.
Su Ziyu did not answer. He merely walked toward Director Li step by step. With every step, Director Li felt his heart pound violently once.
Though he was a cultist who normally killed without blinking, when faced with his own death, an intense desire to survive still erupted from within him.
"Sir... don't... don't kill me!"
Su Ziyu slowly crouched down. Looking at the terror on Director Li's face, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly as he said softly:
"Why would I kill you, Director Li? You've taken care of me for years, after all. Stay by my side from now on and help me with a few things, won't you?"
Director Li immediately kowtowed in gratitude.
"Yes, yes! If you spare me, I'll serve you like an ox or a horse!"
Su Ziyu slowly broke into a smile. To Director Li, however, it made his heart tremble violently. For some reason, he had a dreadful feeling—a premonition that death was about to arrive...
"I'll use you... as my first Evil Spirit Marionette..."
"Dark Wisdom: Evil Spirit Marionette!"
Su Ziyu pressed a hand against Director Li's forehead!
"No!"
At the brink of death, Director Li let out one final wail, seemingly screaming with every ounce of strength in his body:
"Ah! No!
One day, rotting flesh and blood will descend upon this world! The great Ghoul God will tear you to pieces!"
