At last, Director Li let out a roar. Bones cracked throughout his body, then his face split down the middle, his gaping mouth tearing all the way to his ears as it lunged forward to bite Su Ziyu's arm.
To survive, he was preparing to make one final desperate gamble before his death.
Just then, in Director Li's vision, the air before him suddenly grew murky. The currents swirled as a blood-red tableau slowly unfurled, scarlet eyeballs emerging one after another. None had eyelashes, and crimson light flickered in their pupils, brimming with malice.
[Crimson Purgatory]!
Director Li felt as though he had been cast into a crimson ocean, surrounded by red eyes. Every one of them stared directly at him. A piercing pain shot from his brain through every limb and bone, making his mouth, split to his ears, freeze in place. A rasping "heh-heh" sounded from his throat, and his eyes bulged wide as though he had witnessed something beyond his mind's capacity to comprehend.
"...Those eyes... are filled with such vast, chaotic malice. It feels like one more look would turn me into a madman..."
"Could he be... that dark overlord?!"
Director Li was utterly shocked, his expression filled with terror.
Then, the Dread Demon Eye in its berserk state flew behind Su Ziyu. Tentacles split from the center of its eyeball and shot out one after another, piercing Director Li's brain. Dark violet light flared from the giant eye, condensing into a beam that struck his forehead.
[Mental Hypnosis]!
Director Li suddenly saw the eyeballs in the crimson sea split open one by one. Mouths grew from different parts of them, teeth clicking and grinding together amid whispers that made his scalp crawl.
"Hatred me!"
"Despise me!"
"Loath me!"
"..."
The mouths on every eyeball opened and closed, those words echoing in staggered succession by Director Li's ears. The mental assault nearly left him unable to breathe.
"Ah!"
His shrill scream was filled with despair and fear. At that moment, every desire to flee vanished without a trace, replaced by an overwhelming hatred rising from the depths of his heart.
This hatred was even greater than before. Director Li's eyes turned bloodshot, and his ugly face twisted with loathing. The way he looked at Su Ziyu was as if he were staring at the murderer of his father.
At last, that immense hatred flooded his mind and crushed his reason. Like a madman, he reached for Su Ziyu.
"Looks like the hypnosis worked quite well..."
Su Ziyu smiled faintly. There was a prerequisite for creating a powerful Evil Spirit Marionette: the target had to hate him. Director Li had been beaten into this state by Su Ziyu, so naturally he hated him. But that was not enough. Su Ziyu had also used the Dread Demon Eye's hypnotic ability to further deepen Director Li's loathing for him.
With hatred and fear in his eyes, Director Li let out an unwilling wail. He felt a huge hand press against his forehead, then watched with his own eyes as a pale, transparent spirit body was pulled out.
Ah!
The pain of having his spirit body forcibly torn out made Director Li roll his eyes back, his body collapsing and disintegrating piece by piece.
Finally, Su Ziyu lifted his hand, completely pulling Director Li's spirit body free. Then, together with the flesh and blood, he began a breathtaking weaving spectacle.
Evil Spirit Marionette was an advanced dark magic from the Dark Wisdom Chapter. Its creation process was complex, requiring the target to hate its creator. The stronger that hatred, the more powerful the resulting marionette would be.
In addition, a great deal of flesh and blood was needed to complete the ritual.
Su Ziyu raised his left hand, and clumps of ghostly green spirituality gathered before him, forming a massive pair of Spirit Scissors.
Crack!
The enormous ghostly green scissors came down heavily, severing an intangible thread that connected Director Li's forehead to his spirit body. Director Li's unique spirit body jolted free and let out a soul-piercing shriek.
The spirit body resembled a Ghoul, its limbs bent like a hyena's, its face twisted and distorted as countless blood-red worms crawled in and out of it.
This Ghoul Cult cultist had clearly been contaminated by an evil god all the way to his Mental Body. They had long since abandoned humanity and stood against the human race. Su Ziyu felt no psychological burden whatsoever about turning such evil scum into an Evil Spirit Marionette.
Hah!
With a low grunt, the massive Spirit Scissors slid over the Ghoul cultist's spirit body. Like the most skilled tailor, they cut opening after opening, stitching them into warped, bizarre body parts. They defied the laws of biology and physics: severed arms connected behind heads, twisted feet stitched onto backs. Chaos and disorder were the core of this spell.
Then, Su Ziyu gave a light wave of his hand to the side, and the corpses of Director Li's four subordinates flew over as well. Their bodies had already been riddled with holes by the devastation of [Touch of Hell], black blood bubbling out with gurgles.
Compared to Director Li, the four of them were clearly much weaker. They had already lost all signs of life. Su Ziyu intended to put them to use—the more spirit bodies and flesh required by the Evil Spirit Marionette ritual, the stronger the monster it produced would be.
Crack!
A series of crisp sounds rang out as the spirit bodies of the four Ghoul cultists were pulled free by Su Ziyu as well. They howled as if they still wanted to charge at him, freezing patches of ice wherever they passed.
Once these spirit bodies left the restraints of their flesh, they became mindless creatures of the spirit world.
Su Ziyu did not idle either. He controlled the massive Spirit Scissors, snipping away with crack after crack, cutting them into shapes that pleased him.
Throughout the process, the spirit bodies let out wails that pierced to the bone and roars that hungered for human hearts and bones. Under the cutting of the Spirit Scissors, their cries gradually slowed and weakened, until they finally became a mass of chaotic, twisted spirit fragments.
The bodies they had left on the ground also collapsed and broke apart. Severed limbs and fragments rose into the air, wrapped around clumps of indistinct flesh and blood from their internal organs. They stitched themselves together, the squelching sounds of flesh writhing in the air as chilling as a mad concert.
Finally, the cut and assembled spirit bodies flew over and merged with that equally disordered mass of flesh. At the instant the two were about to fuse, Director Li's unique spirit body threw back its head and roared, then completely dissolved into this frenzied dark ritual.
Blood slowly rose from Su Ziyu's fingers, circling the mad woven mass of spirit bodies and flesh. Lines of blood eventually formed a scarlet robe, tightly wrapping around what lay within like a blood-red cocoon of flesh.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The flesh cocoon seemed to come alive, beginning to beat like a heart.
Slowly, its rhythm grew faster and faster, like increasingly frantic drumbeats.
Bang!
Flesh and blood burst outward. Part of the nutrients contracted inward, forming a humanoid red silhouette.
Then a withered arm reached out from within, followed by two legs stepping free. Muffled pops sounded in quick succession as a monster resembling Director Li emerged from the flesh cocoon. Blood threads and veins clung to its body, and a blood-red mist shrouded it from head to toe.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
It slowly walked up to Su Ziyu. As the blood mist dispersed, it revealed a nearly two-meter-tall skeleton wreathed in dark flames.
Its eye sockets were deeply sunken, containing only two burning flames of the soul. The flames were mainly black, mixed with all sorts of strange colors. Bright red muscles, crisscrossed with fascia, clung to its body in knotted masses. Though no skin concealed them, they appeared exceptionally savage and violent.
The Evil Spirit Marionette abruptly dropped to its knees, lowering its massive head as though awaiting Su Ziyu's orders.
