Hundred Tribulations Daoist was once a Golden Core cultivator of the Ten Thousand Demon Cavern and a distinguished Tier-Three Artifact Refiner. By the time Xiao Liang discovers him in Earthfire Hall, his body has become a dried remnant shell, while his true form is a severely damaged Golden Core containing his spirit. 29 30 34

After Pandora destroys his corpse, the Daoist awakens and recognizes Xiao Liang's Blood Nightmare Technique as belonging to the Ten Thousand Demon Cavern. He dismisses Xiao Liang's Four-Spirit Root as worthless, but covets Qin Long's Wind Spirit Root and Mystic Sword Heavenly Note Body as an ideal vessel. 29 30

He possesses Qin Long and attempts to devour her spirit, while deceiving Xiao Liang with promises of accepting him as a disciple of the demonic path. Xiao Liang instead uses the Golden Crow Sun-Refining Divine Art to summon Sun True Fire, forcing the Daoist into a desperate negotiation. 30 31 32
