Ch. 461Ghost-Breaker Corps Touches the Soul Spirits
Key plot points and events
- After a brutal battle, the Red Sun Federation remains dangerously close, so Luo Fengshan summons an emergency meeting. He forms the Ghost-Breaker Corps, a force of more than ten thousand elite close-combat fighters, with Luo Caichi in command. Their mission is to strike the enemy’s Ghost Tamers, since ordinary ranged attacks can no longer stop the advance.
- Before the operation, Luo Caichi keeps Fu Junlin and Di Tianqing behind under the watch of Tribunal Hall and Eagle’s Nest agents. She questions Fu Junlin about his loyalty and family, using coded language to communicate with Luo Fengshan.
- Fu Junlin declares that his family consists of the people, his comrades, their land, and honor—and vows to defend them and reclaim lost territory. Luo Fengshan understands the message and reveals how much he has longed to reunite with his family and regain his land. The two recognize one another’s feelings without openly exposing their identities.
- Two hours later, the Ghost-Breaker Corps gathers beneath the northern wall. Luo Caichi instructs the troops to hold meaningful objects and imagine someone deceased whom they long to see. Her golden sword releases lights that help them sense Soul Spirits.
- Fu Junlin feels an unfamiliar energy gathering around him. When he opens his eyes, he sees three human-shaped figures among the lights and is overcome with emotion.
Character developments
- Fu Junlin reaffirms his loyalty to the Federation while subtly assuring his father that he does not blame him for their separation. He remains emotionally controlled, though the sight of the three figures breaks through that restraint.
- Luo Fengshan is relieved to learn that Fu Junlin still honors him and has not turned against him. He admits how deeply he feared losing his family, comrades, land, and honor.
- Luo Caichi balances her role as commander with her desire to reconnect with her father and brother, carefully concealing their private exchange from the watchers.
- Big Black interrupts the charged moment with a crude joke, inadvertently preventing Fu Junlin from revealing too much.
