Background / History

Deadpools are the primary monsters encountered in Lu Mingfei’s repeated Genji Heavy Industries runs. For roughly two years, he faced swarms of them nightly; by the 701st recorded load, he had cleared the Hard Mode instance while killing 16 elite and 23 regular enemy units 1 8 9.

The creatures also exist outside that dungeon. Lu encounters a horde at Zero Overpass in reality, where they hunger for him but cannot leave the overpass boundary 12. Later, more than twenty Deadpools masquerade as motionless subway passengers inside Nibelungen; Lu kills the entire group, suffering only two minor injuries 26.

Unlike their usual mindless portrayal, Deadpools in the abandoned standby city collectively chant apocalyptic scripture about dragons entering human cities and waging war. Their chant causes Lu to recall the pale-golden-eyed figure he met in Genji Heavy Industries 9.

Appearance

Deadpools are generally described as snake-bodied, human-faced monsters. Their bodies are built for predation rather than human movement, with scaled hides, claws, and luminous eyes.

• Serpentine Deadpools possess blue-black scales that blend into darkness and crimson-gold eyes 4.
• Their scales can be hard enough that a single Blood Sickle fragment cannot reliably penetrate them 7.
• They have pale, withered claws and attack in dense, shrieking packs 26.
• Their black blood is thick, highly dangerous, and described as asphalt-like when spilled across a subway carriage 27.
• Some specimens wield surgically attached weapons, including a nearly four-meter-tall serpent Deadpool armed with two long blades 4.

Predatory Instincts

Deadpools hunt instinctively and relentlessly rather than remaining in controlled locations.

• They seek routes through elevator shafts, ducts, exposed steel frames, and other passages to reach prey 3 4.
• They are drawn strongly to dragon blood, particularly Lu Mingfei’s and Gen Chisei’s blood 5 7.
• Their sense of smell is stated to exceed a shark’s already formidable ability to detect blood 5.
• Emperor’s Blood-soaked clothing can distract and lure portions of a pursuing horde 7.

Physical Resilience

Serpentine Deadpools are exceptionally difficult to kill, especially those bred within Genji Heavy Industries.

• Captive Serpentine Deadpools are survivors of perpetual cannibalistic killing feasts and possess life force far beyond ordinary hybrids 5.
• In Hard Mode, the Genji Heavy Industries enemies receive a major statistical enhancement; the dungeon’s Deadpools are substantially stronger than those later encountered in Nibelungen 1 26.
• Their scales resist ordinary cutting attacks, requiring concentrated force, alchemical weapons, or repeated strikes to breach effectively 5 7.
• Even after suffering catastrophic wounds, they continue circling and attacking their prey 5.

Pack Assaults

Deadpools overwhelm targets through numbers, coordinated encirclement, and constant pressure.

• More than seventy enhanced Serpentine Deadpools attack Lu Mingfei’s group in the Mural Hall 5.
• They hesitate to be the first attacker but surge forward collectively once one creature attacks 26.
• Their numbers can be reduced by blocking vertical routes; Lu collapses multiple elevators to seal the lower shaft and slow their advance 4 5.

Weaknesses

• Alchemical weapons — Alchemical blades can cut through their bodies and scales effectively; Lu relies on weapons such as Wrath, Pride, Lust, wakizashi, and a horse-chopping blade against them 4 5 23 26.
• Mercury-core bullets — Mercury-core ammunition fired from a Desert Eagle is highly effective against Serpentine Deadpools 4.
• Blood Sickle — Dense, controlled air fragments can enter existing wounds, sever blood vessels, and intensify bleeding 6 7.
• Environmental traps — Falling elevators, blocked shafts, explosions, and confined terrain can limit their mobility or destroy pursuing groups 4 7 8.

• Caesar Gattuso — Fights Deadpools with suppressive fire and uses Gen Chisei’s blood-soaked shirt to draw them away from Lu 5 7.
• Chu Zihang — Is critically impaled by a giant dual-bladed serpent Deadpool before Lu rescues him 4.
• Gen Chisei — His Emperor’s Blood strongly attracts Deadpools, making him both a target and an effective lure 5 7.
• Su Enxi and Shuuder Mai — Observe Lu’s massacre of subway Deadpools and jokingly rename him “Super Murderous Little White Rabbit” 26.
