Background / History

Hela was Odin’s eldest daughter, Asgard’s former executioner, and his companion during the conquest of the Nine Realms. Her growing ambition, bloodlust, and desire for endless expansion eventually led Odin to exile and seal her away, fearing for Asgard and the peace of the Nine Realms. Her eventual return was prophesied to bring Ragnarok. 116

Her prison was Niflheim, a lightless dimension saturated with decay, wandering souls, ancient ruins, and the remnants of prior conflict with Odin. Centuries of confinement intensified her hatred for her father and her resentment toward Asgard. 118 119

Yu Xian entered Niflheim after persuading Odin that his Five Elements Seal could suppress Hela’s divine power. Hela rejected Yu Xian’s offer of freedom in exchange for service, and their negotiations escalated into a battle. 116 119 120
